*sigh*

I thought I would splurge a little bit and have a pot roast sandwich from Bob Evans for dinner.

Entered it into the http://www.sparkpeople.com food plan.

*gag* 1,154 calories, 125 grams of carbs, 46 FREAKING grams of FAT, and 57 grams of protein!

Holy farking crap. Well, there went the 700 calories I burned at the gym this morning...no wonder I've not lost any weight.

I WAS planning to live past 50, but that sandwich probably shaved off several years from my life. Whoa.

BUT, not is all lost, as it is [livejournal.com profile] angylinni's birthday! I hope you had a great day!

Weekend Recap

I love living in the Midwest. Columbus, despite the fact that it's in the Midwest, is a pretty happening kind of place. I can get bubble tea, pad thai, fresh cucumbers, and organic guava without putting up with some holier-than-thou hipster attitude.

ANYWAY. Recap:

1. Violent Femmes. Awesome. Dissonant. Crowd full of people Trying Too Hard. Got squirted with lotion/sunscreen (you can imagine what flashed through my mind when I ended up covered with thick, white goo). [livejournal.com profile] hastyent gets the Good Friend Award for coming along with me!

2. Lodge Bar. Worst.drinks.ever. Don't order from the bar there - just drink bottled beer. Gah.

3. Car wash. I remember why we don't do these things to make money - too much time, energy and sun. We do it for "donations" - a guy driving a Corvette gave us $3 to wash his car. Boo. My face and neck are burnt; I'm using the Honey Bee cream now, for sure! And we have another planned for September 10. *headdesk*

4. Naps. Naps are nice.

5. Ice cream. I have developed allergies to most preservatives, so my choices for ice cream are down to nearly nothing. Nothing but Jeni's Ice Cream, that is. I've been at the North Market at least twice a week all summer long. Today I had basil & pine nut, which was great. The sweet corn and blackberry rocks, too. They have regular flavors, too, but their specialty flavors are wonderful.

6. Cucumbers. 'Tis the season. *crunch, munch*

That is all. Hope most of you had great weekends, or that you can forget that this one ever happened!

Rainbow Cookbook!

Cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] columbus_eats

The girls organization I help with has put together a cookbook to raise funds.

This is a great cookbook a la the tradition of church cookbooks.

There are 476 pages of recipes, with variations on popular dishes and TONS of really good stuff.

There isn't a lot of frou-frou stuff (I hate to get a cookbook and they call for things that a normal person would never have on-hand at home), it's all easy to make.  I can already see why many of these things are probably traditions for carry-in dinners and working moms who want fresh food without hours of prep work.  The recipes come from all over the US, so there is a lot of variety in styles of dishes and ingredients.

My personal favorites (aside from my own contributions):  Puppy Chow (Chex and chocolate chips mixed with peanut butter), Mushroom Bisque, Boston Baked Corn, Ghost on a Stick (pear halves dipped in white chocolate), and my sister's TO DIE FOR Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing.

The cover is very colorful, there are information pages/equivalency charts.  It's obvious a LOT of work went into this.  Totally worth the $20, you'll actually USE these recipes!

To order your cookbook:  Send a check for $20 (made out to Rainbow Cookbook - IORG) to:

International Order of Rainbow for Girls
PO Box 1868
McAlester, OK  74502

Be sure to include the name and address where you want your cookbook sent.

*chants*  I will not look at spoilers, I will not look at spoilers...I will not visit [livejournal.com profile] camillabloom's journal and peek at spoilers...

I will read smutty fanfic, however, until my eyes go dry.  :>

Went to see drum/brass competition with [livejournal.com profile] hastyent tonight.  Scads of young men dressed in tight fitted uniforms?  You better believe I was all over that.  Too bad I didn't bring binoculars.  I'm a dirty old woman and I'm not even 30 yet.

Before the competition we went to Thai Orchid, and the pad thai was almost as good as the eye candy that followed.  :-9

This weekend is going to suuuuuuck.  I work Friday until 6:15.  Thought I would have all day Saturday to read, but no.  I am going out to lunch with Honeybunch (the poor guy hasn't seen hide or hair of me for more than a week now), then I have to go into work from 4-6.  Two hours that are going to be absolute HELL.  I truly hope that tech services doesn't process our HBP books for distribution until Monday.

And I want to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  And visit with Renee (twice in a week!).  Pooh.  At this point, getting through the book will be meeting the goal.

Eee.  Can't wait.  :D

Holiday Blahs

Whenever I start thinking, 'maybe it's time to consider having kids,' some holiday pops up to rain on my thought parade.

I'd mess my kid up.  I have no passion for the things kids need, like holiday traditions.  The thought of wading through thousands of smelly people to find one patch of earth to stand with a crick in my neck looking at explosions that aren't nearly as awesome as the *real* stars makes me feel a little ill.

Don't I make a post like this at every holiday?  Why yes, I do!  :P

Okay, I'll stop kvetching now.  Still not having kids.  With my luck, they'd turn out to be born-again Republicans who celebrate every holiday with materialistic fervor that would make every suburban soccer mom proud.  Or worse, they'd *be* that soccer mom.

I gotta stop thinking about this.  *om*

What I really did over the holiday weekend )

And OMG, hate meme.  Posting to a hate meme anonymously (or at all) is bad karma.  Shame on you.  YEAH YOU.  Yeah, I'm talking to you, you douche.  Douche.

I still love all of you, screw those douchebags.

I'm at my dad's house - embarrassed to even park my car in the drive, the place is an eyesore. All it needs is a couple of broken-down cars in front to complete the picture. :|

But there will be fried cheese (darn you, [livejournal.com profile] queenkatiett for mentioning it last week)! Am off to the Ashville 4th of July festival to procure said product.

Wish me and my digestive tract good luck. :P

I think I should work backward in my timeline of Recent Events Of Interest To None But Myself.

Reduced-sugar Fruity Pebbles are the real deal, very yummy.  They must take the place of the Girl Scout Cookies - I believe at this point, my blood is just chocolate mint-flavored liquid.

I made Taco salad ) which we'll be having for breakfast, lunch and dinner until we're sporking each other for the last bit.  :-9

I know some folks really love Bath and Body Works.  So do I, except I'm the pickiest BBW shopper, ever )

I have been getting more and more excited about Book 6, specifically excited about what we're going to find out about Professor Snape.  I do plan to spend the release weekend with [livejournal.com profile] kirixchi and company, which should be great fun!  :)

Right now, I'm satisfying my Snape fascination by reading lots of Snape!fic, from Pawn to Queen to If You Are Prepared and everything in between.  There's even a Snape/Luna fic out there.

What are you all looking forward to in HBP?

Sometimes, it's just better to STFU

I swear, it's my angsty mood-of-d00m posts that are the most embarrassing, forget posting while drunk.  Just ignore me, kthx.

But HUGE thanks for the virtual hugs.  I needed those, big time.

I watched Trekkies 2 the other day.  And wow, that Gabe turned out to be almost cute.  Almost normal, too.

I saw Trekkies before I joined the fandom, and while I still regard the hard-core Trekkers a little warily, I had a TOTALLY different reaction to T2.  Now I can see how much of a community it really is, how much people care about each other, and what they can do when they come together.

Cool.

Oh, and if you've not been through the latest posts at [livejournal.com profile] erotic_elves, let me point out two great pieces of Trio-fic:

Mental That One and The Emotional Range of a Teaspoon, both by [livejournal.com profile] argyle_s

They made me do a little happy dance of joy.  :)

OH NOES!  [livejournal.com profile] 1anonymous1 just showed me this.  BEST COMM EVAR.  Maybe they can tell me how to overcome my addiction to awful, terrible, legal entertainment!  And tell me how I'm contributing to rape and kiddy porn, yay!

Ah, that makes my day, I tells ya.

Nucking Futs, People

That's what has become of me.  I have well and truly lost it.

Thanks to one of my RL friends, who reads my journal, for letting me know how much of a bitch I sounded in this post.

I think we all know what a rant is, don't we?  Trust that I am polite 99.9% of the time.  It's that 0.01% of sociopath that brings on posts like that.  Probably too many shots to the dome from good old mom.  :P

A couple new realizations about size & weight loss )

Also, positive vibes and good karma going out to everyone who is having a hard time right now.  It seems to be a long list of people.  I do take time out at the end of the day to think about the people I care about, and the majority of that list lately has been people from LJ and online.  Special hugs and loff to:

Supreme Cookbook!

I think most of you are aware of this:

I don't know how many of you out there know this, but Supreme Assembly is compiling a cookbook to raise money to replace the central air at the Supreme Temple.

Let's Get Cooking! )

I hope that each person in the community will take a couple of minutes to at least enter a recipe into the database.

Thanks!  :)

Don't don't don't let's start, this is the worst part...

Damn real life keeps intruding into my virtual time/space continuum. Wednesday night, right after I went to bed, my mind went through this incredible descriptive scenario for a fic that's been on my drive since Christmastime. And could I get up and write it out? Nooo, I had to be up for the one and only Thursday morning shift I'll probably ever work. And it was running through my head, pictures and all. Fuck.

When something like that happens to you, fellow writers, do you say damn the torpedos and get up to write? Or do you just pray that inspiration will strike twice, preferably when you're sitting in front of your monitor?

I should have gotten up and dealt with being cranky the next morning.

But today. Ah. Honeybunch and I went to lunch at the Happy Greek. Mmm, kopanisti and dates with Honeybunch. Much with the <3 there. :-)

A little rant about cooking and feminism )
