quidditchgrrl: (the bitch is in)
Just so you all know, I've spent 4 hours writing tonight.

Looks like the movie has given me some good mojo.

Feels good. :)

Fic Reveal!

Jan. 4th, 2007 11:35 pm
quidditchgrrl: (Fangirly joy)
Woo! [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus reveals have been made!

[livejournal.com profile] starrika wrote Observation (Neville/Ginny) for me. I loved it - so descriptive and beautful.

I wrote Moonlight Madness (Harry/Luna) for [livejournal.com profile] oracleholly.

Interesting that both of our female protagonists were piano players and that we both went with a very descriptive writing style. Not my usual at all. I'm more of a...technical writer.

I thought this year's entries were really well-done, as they typically are, I guess, considering the calibre of folks who participate.

Go, read, review! :)
quidditchgrrl: (Percy + Oliver Hugs)
*blows dust off journal* Well, hello!

I've been lurking of late, spending some time on MySpace and being busy with things like Holiday cards, baking and shopping.

I got nuthin' to say aside from that.

Oh! Look what some lovely person wrote for me! Observation, a Neville/Ginny fic that is actually HOT. Wow.

Hopefully I'll feel more verbose later. Right now holiday stress, work and family drama leaves me so drained that everything else has kind of fallen by the wayside.

*hugs to you all*
quidditchgrrl: (SWC Best Friends)
A bunch of random drivel:

Oh, Stephen, Paul and Amy, how much do I love you? Let me count the ways. )

I've been reading an inordinate amount of Harry/Draco slash lately. By inordinate, I mean I'm actually reading it. Well, like two novel-length fanfics: Transfigurations by [livejournal.com profile] resonant8 and Left My Heart by [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01. Pretty good. Proof that one CAN read any pairing so long as it's well-written.

Also, this fic has me tied up in knots of several different sizes. So angsty!

Thing the fourth: I hate the Christmahanukwanzukkah season. Really. I do. When is January 3rd, again, so we can put all this crass commercialism back into the closet? Bah. Humbug.

One more thing. The soundtrack to The Last Kiss is the best thing to happen to soundtracks for a long, long time.

That is all.
quidditchgrrl: (Sexy George)
Welp, bad news. In the PC migration, I managed to lose half of chapter 7 of ANIP. *headdesk, infinity*

Goddamnit!

I'm working to salvage it as best I can. My goal is to have it finished and posted before the beginning of July.

Usual suspects beta readers, are you available for slicing and dicing in June? Anyone else?

Wow, it's been almost two years since I updated this fic. Not for lack of inspiration, just time and energy.

Off to rejoin the world of active hacks!
quidditchgrrl: (Old School HP Fan)
*nudges friends-list*

HBP has been out for a while, yeah? I don't know what it is, but I am having a devil of a time finding HBP-compliant stories in certain ships.

Specifically, in the Severus/Hermione ship. There wasn't nearly enough in the holiday challenges, and I'm really Jonesing for some good, canon-compliant SS/HG.

Of course, I'm looking for the higher-rated stuff, but other than that, I'm game for just about anything at this point.

Merci! :D
quidditchgrrl: (I could take him)
Watching I Love The 80s 3D. My love for Wil Wheaton knows no bounds. We're going to have to discuss those sideburns, though.

Saw Stay yesterday. It was...okay. I like my psychological thrillers to have a more coherent ending. Ewan almost made up for that. :>

I'm almost in as much anticipation for Syriana and Walk The Line as I am for GoF. Oh, and Brokeback Mountain. Jarhead, too. All that Jake Gyllenhaal....

I have a long list of pseudo-interesting things I ought to write about in this journal, but I'd rather post blather.

Work has been...work. Rainbow has been...work, lately. Writing has been coming along, surprisingly. I actually considered nanowrimo for about 0.000001 seconds before I came to my senses. Not a serious writer am I.

I've been gorging myself in my other fandom - Jane Austen. Amazingly good fanfic. Also reading some Lost fanfic, although I'm a little surprised at the lack of safe sex (I mean, they're on an island with limited resources; you'd think Kate/Shannon/Sun would be more worried...okay, okay, it's fanfic, I get it).

If you haven't read [livejournal.com profile] gmth's beta requests III, well, you're missing out.

So much with the randomness, so little with the coherence.
quidditchgrrl: (Rockin' the burbs)
I love my honeybunch - he buys me candy!  <3

Trent Reznor pwns me - With Teeth is the sex like whoa.

Oh, wait, this post had a point!  I'm looking for Harry/Luna fics.  This pairing has some possibilities, and if anyone has read/seen decent fic (I'll even read genfic at this point), point me to it, please!

[livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13, I got your card!  Thanks so so much!  >:D
quidditchgrrl: (Rockin' the burbs)
Hot rec for you Snarry fans out there:  Paint It Black by [livejournal.com profile] tarie.  Ron's in there too.  Hot, wow.  Totally not kid/work safe; best read late at night when you can squirm around in your chair without rousing suspicion.  :>

Heck, head over to Diagon Alley and read all of Tarie's fics.  Then review, of course.

Went to Buca di Beppo for father's day...except my dad was a no-show.  I'm not really upset about it - if he doesn't want to spend time with his family, that's his perogative.  Me, I never miss an opportunity for a good meal!  :)  My BIL is a future father, so we met criteria (same thing happened on mother's day, but my sister wasn't showing at the time, and my mom is long dead).  Both times, the servers seemed relieved to deal with "regular" customers on two of the most horrible days to be in the service industry.

In other news, I've really gotten into the show Kept.  It's different from most reality TV because the "star" doesn't do much interacting with the glory-seekers.  No hot tub scenes, no skin, just a bunch of guys trying to get over on each other.  Ego-bashing & petty arguments v. funny.  I'm rooting for Austin or Anwar - they might not be the most handsome, but they certainly are the most mature of the bunch.  Now, I just need to remember to watch...

Damn Tom Cruise and his beard antics!  I really don't want to see War of the Worlds now, just so I don't have to look at his leering, Scientolgist face.  >:O

Tagging entries is addictive.  Tags are love.
quidditchgrrl: (Are you ready for HBP?)
I think I should work backward in my timeline of Recent Events Of Interest To None But Myself.

Reduced-sugar Fruity Pebbles are the real deal, very yummy.  They must take the place of the Girl Scout Cookies - I believe at this point, my blood is just chocolate mint-flavored liquid.

I made Taco salad ) which we'll be having for breakfast, lunch and dinner until we're sporking each other for the last bit.  :-9

I know some folks really love Bath and Body Works.  So do I, except I'm the pickiest BBW shopper, ever )

I have been getting more and more excited about Book 6, specifically excited about what we're going to find out about Professor Snape.  I do plan to spend the release weekend with [livejournal.com profile] kirixchi and company, which should be great fun!  :)

Right now, I'm satisfying my Snape fascination by reading lots of Snape!fic, from Pawn to Queen to If You Are Prepared and everything in between.  There's even a Snape/Luna fic out there.

What are you all looking forward to in HBP?
quidditchgrrl: (Converted by Morrissey - readywreadywit)
Other than [livejournal.com profile] ravenclawgrrl's few ficlets, I do not have an extensive list of good Arthur/Molly fics.

Anyone know of well-written, rated Arthur/Molly?  Anyone?

Oh, and Lost?  I'm so about the Charlie/Hurley love.  Please help.  O.o
quidditchgrrl: (Not Groovy by araelwen)
Anyone know what happened to [livejournal.com profile] claireyfairy1?

:(
quidditchgrrl: (You Suck by sra33)
I swear, it's my angsty mood-of-d00m posts that are the most embarrassing, forget posting while drunk.  Just ignore me, kthx.

But HUGE thanks for the virtual hugs.  I needed those, big time.

I watched Trekkies 2 the other day.  And wow, that Gabe turned out to be almost cute.  Almost normal, too.

I saw Trekkies before I joined the fandom, and while I still regard the hard-core Trekkers a little warily, I had a TOTALLY different reaction to T2.  Now I can see how much of a community it really is, how much people care about each other, and what they can do when they come together.

Cool.

Oh, and if you've not been through the latest posts at [livejournal.com profile] erotic_elves, let me point out two great pieces of Trio-fic:

Mental That One and The Emotional Range of a Teaspoon, both by [livejournal.com profile] argyle_s

They made me do a little happy dance of joy.  :)

random thoughts on eating )

OH NOES!  [livejournal.com profile] 1anonymous1 just showed me this.  BEST COMM EVAR.  Maybe they can tell me how to overcome my addiction to awful, terrible, legal entertainment!  And tell me how I'm contributing to rape and kiddy porn, yay!

Ah, that makes my day, I tells ya.

Just up on Checkmated!, a very cute and funny Ron/Hermione first-time story by [livejournal.com profile] critch:

A Night of New Beginnings (Ron/Hermione, R, you'll need Bedchamber access)

It's short and sweet, so pop over and take a look!
quidditchgrrl: (trouble? by rebecca jordan)
Have had this together for about a week, just haven't had time to get it up anywhere, but for those of you in the GG...

Chapter 6 of A Night in Paris is up!

Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] seakays and [livejournal.com profile] nsmom who provided beta help. >:D<

I'm hoping to be able to devote some time to writing during my recovery period in July and August. I've decided to take the entire six weeks if possible. My job sucks so badly right now, I'm glad I'm having surgery to get me away from the place.

Busy weekend, Friday night Installation (which is always a hellish endeavor), working out and running errands Saturday, and going to the zoo today. I dislike the zoo, although it's a nice zoo, the animals just never look happy to me. Although we did get a good look at a silverback gorilla who ran by our viewing area thumping his chest, and another silverback who perched right against a window and watched us watching him. I just...I dunno, I just don't like to see animals caged up.

Just for the record, Cheney = Voldemort, Dubya = Wormtail. Discuss.

I am so jealous of [livejournal.com profile] rachet, who met Sean Astin this weekend! Wah, I wanna see him too. :'-(

It's late, and [livejournal.com profile] triumvirate has a zillion new posts. Good thing I have to be in at noon tomorrow. *reads*
quidditchgrrl: (Damn It!)
Anyone available to beta the next chapter of A Night in Paris for me? George/Hermione, mainly looking for style/continuity. It's about 7000 words.

Comment and I'll send it to you. Thanks!

Hee! It's done! Now I can work on the gazillion other things I've got going. :D
quidditchgrrl: (lena_crest - trio love)
Since [livejournal.com profile] allichan has made her true confession, I must make mine:

I love the new (I guess it's new, at least to me) Hillary Duff song. I do. I admit it. I'm ashamed to say everything in this house stops when the video comes on MTV Hits.

I also like Justin Timberlake's CD, but that's just because it sounds a bit like Off the Wall. Yes. :>

And, thank you [livejournal.com profile] authenticpoppy for the get well card!

And, and, everyone who is stepping back from fandom, I say good for ya! I am taking a fandom mini-vacation and it's been great. Full days away from the computer and LJ and fandom wreckage, it's been great. It's left me feeling a little less personally involved, and that's a good feeling. Fandom can be overwhelming at times, even if it's just fandom.

And, of course, I have a request. Would there be a content/continuity beta out there (or someone who is familiar with A Night in Paris) willing to look over a little scene for my next chapter and tell me if I've gone dotty with it? 'Twould take just a couple of minutes. *weedles*

ETA: Never mind! I fixed it. :)
quidditchgrrl: (why choose?)

quidditchgrrl: (Ride it)
You know what's really funny (well, not funny, but you know, interesting) in all of this wank about [livejournal.com profile] lissinthecity, the f-word, and its meaning?

Liss is a true romantic. She likes a good romance. She believes in the concept of soul mates.

Most - if not all - of her stories revolve around unconditional love. The majority have enough fluff to result in cavities.

Why should this one be any different? Love and lust are not mutually exclusive. Who's to say Harry didn't ask Ginny to move in with him the next morning? Or that he didn't, later on, treat her like she was made of silk and blown glass? Or that she ever wanted to be treated like a fragile flower?

I truly think that were it not for the name of the author at the top of this fic, nothing would ever have been said. It's one thing to leave a review for some unknown author who's writing their first fic. But it's something else altogether to align against a well-known person in the fandom, one whom you don't particularly know aside from the name.

Unimaginative, I tell you. Thoughtless and uninspired. Tired.
