Jul. 18th, 2008 10:46 pmSo, I saw The Dark Knight (with
midnightcircle) tonight.
I am totally, TOTALLY slashing Batman/Joker right now.
One-way ticket to hell, front-row seating if you have it, please.
Non-spoilery commentary:
--The Joker creeped me out. For real, and not just because Heath Ledger is dead now
--Christian Bale did an excellent job making me equally uneasy at times
--My love for Gary Oldman knows no bounds, much like his accent, lol
I have two more viewings this weekend, can't wait to see it again!

Nov. 14th, 2007 12:55 amFirst off, happy birthday to
catsperspective - I hope your birthday was a good one!
Today was up and down. I went to the dentist to have a filling replaced on my back molar. So, that was unfun in the way that most dental appointments are - needles, having the novocaine shakes, drilling out hunks of busted amalgam & replacing it with new - and the novocaine was still there 4 hours later...
When I went to meet
kaputla for the first time and drop her some clothes. She kept saying how awkward she was (but wasn't at all), I got to pet her bunny and talk for a couple of minutes (awkwardly for me, since I was trying not to drool out of the numb side of my mouth). Also, Megan is SERIOUSLY cute. We must make time to interact socially now that we've done the good-to-finally-meet-you dance. ;)
La, that's all I have time for! Now back to finishing the
smutty_claus fic I took this week off work to do. Ya rly.

Got a brain like bubble gum
Jun. 23rd, 2007 02:25 amTrying to cram life into 24 hours is exhausting. Heh.
Trying to walk on rest days = FAIL. Who knew that I'd actually prefer to run? Insanity, I tell you.
Bernie is still not 100%, so we will call the vet in the morning. Poor puppy; I think he had some bad food rather than bad rawhide - Andy said that Bernie was having tummy trouble before we gave him his bone. So, my fault. :(
Went to Dayton tonight to see
rlanto,
generalmanda,
ladybug_rjc and
ciberw0lf, and to listen to Homeland (a Celtic-type pub band) play at Dub Pub. V. fun! Met a vegan, buddhist, meditation-practicing AF engineer, which was interesting. Forgot to pay my bill for dinner, though *forehead slap* before I went home.
There is nothing so terrifying than driving on I-71 at midnight - the sheer number of drunk drivers - I'd wager at least 60% of the cars on the road were being driven by intoxicated drivers. I just tried to look alive out there.
I have been a witness to three accidents since Wednesday...I feel like the CPD knows me by name when I call...I think I've given reports on 6 accidents this year alone! Be careful, people - I'm so attractive that people crash into each other when I'm near! LOL
( Karen showed me these two pictures, mainly her before and after (but I think I'm about 10# lighter in the second one): )
I went wall climbing with Martie from work earlier Friday. Note to self: do not ride your bike to Vertical Adventures again. Those two miles home will seem like ten when your arms feel like ground beef! Martie is a really good climber, though, so hopefully she'll be willing to go with me again. She's also not attached to the notion of sticking too closely to the marked routes, so I didn't get yelled at today. :-P
Actually, several people at work have expressed an interest in it, which is pretty awesome. Who says library folks are milquetoasts?! AND, if any of YOU locals are interested...wall climbing is FUN! You don't have to be in great shape, you don't have to be a skilled climber (or else I wouldn't be able to do it).
You know you wanna!
Tomorrow, the gym (ugh, won't be getting much sleep), then we're going to see 1408. I love seeing horror flicks in the theatre, and I think this is the scariest thing Stephen King ever wrote. So we'll see how it translates to the screen. Then...maybe I can convince Andy to go to the driving range or something. Or I'll head down to Comfest. Hm.
Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!!

I think Honeybunch is officially jealous. ( Read more... )
In other news, the Chemical Brothers have released a single from their album We Are The Night. Video for the first single ( under the cut: )
In other, other news, my schedule at work has changed. I'm now opening on Monday and closing Tuesday. This really pissed me off at first, but then I realized two things:
1. I will be able to take the Monday night circle step class and toning, which is very nice (no excuse not to go, either).
2. I am opening/closing alone Monday-Thursday, which means that I will be completely responsible for whatever happens during my shifts. (If you know me well, you will understand why I consider this awesome.)
What is NOT awesome? That I will miss the HP-Ohio pre-OotP movie premiere dinner BECAUSE I HAVE TO WORK. *cry* :'-((
This, unfortunately, leaves me with even *less* time to do anything that would be considered "leisure". I pop online, check les blogs, email, then off again to sleep or work. Boo! I haven't logged into AIM/Y!M for a couple of weeks because I'm only here for 30 minutes, if that. Double boo. I think I'm still catching everyone's posts on the fly (but if something has happened and I've not responded, wing an email my way...).
I did download a screensaver and background from OotP from the WB website. I am quite excited about this movie - when I was reading it I figured it would translate well to the screen. This summer is gonna be Potter-licious! :)

There will be birthday fic, m'dear. ;)
Travelogue 1: PR/NOLA
May. 23rd, 2007 04:56 pmI have a vacation hangover today. My throat is scratchy and I'm just feeling slightly sick and wrung out. Maybe I should have gone into work (i.e. a "hair of the dog" way to get back on track)?
Yeah, no. I'll probably stop in tonight to drop off pralines. The Tim-Tams are mine, however. MINE, I SAY.
I uploaded lots of pictures to my MySpace.
avidbeader, is it okay if I filch some of your pics?
( Overall impressions )
( Tuesday and Wednesday )
I am still in my jammies. I need to shower and work out. I also need to attempt to eat something besides Tim Tams and Diet Coke. Yes.

May. 22nd, 2007 08:39 pmAm home. Exhausted to the point of puking. Cried twice on the plane. Miss everyone terribly already. Hoarse from talking so much.
Have nearly forgotten how to type. Want some crab rangoon.Do not want to log into work email.
Don't have to go into work for meeting tomorrow. Score!
*goes out for the crab rangoons* *collapses*

Mar. 3rd, 2007 10:23 pmFirst off, let me thank all that is holy that February is over...definitely one of the worst months I've ever had.
March has GOT to be better.
I got my car tuned up (and my wallet, too) and now the thing practically refuses to run. I think they messed up the spark plug wires or jogged something loose around the battery. The idle is too low as well. 7:30am Monday morning, I will be at the service place with my lovely car and an equally charming smile, since they will be fixing this for free, oh yes they will.
Friday was the split of the bad and good. Bad = funeral of someone I knew growing up. I got to hold her beautiful 5-month-old baby, but I couldn't be sure if I was sad for the baby or hopeful that the universe was unfolding as it should. Once again I got to talk to many people I don't see all that often, which is often the side effect of funerals and deaths.
I went out with
midnightcircle,
madlori and
rachet on Friday night to see Zodiac. A++ WOULD SEE AGAIN. The only thing that I could say against it was sometimes the pacing was a little slow, but oh, the story was well-told and captured the milieu of the time. Lots of good actors, as well (Anthony Edwards! Dermot Mulroney! Jack's dad from LOST!) as natural makeup -I LOVE to see real-looking people on screen.
I busted both of my knees in the parking lot at the theatre. Luckily I didn't bust my head; I threw my arm up enough to protect my head from my rear-view mirror. I got the air knocked from me and I slid halfway under the car next to mine, but all I could think about was how appropo it would be for me to have been that third bad thing. If I'd hit my head as hard as I hit my knee, there would have been scrambled brains, for sure. Not too much pain now, just stiff and annoying knee and elbow pain.
Anyone super-excited about a) 300 or b) The Grind House? Because I am. This year's couple resolution (well, MY resolution, which Mr. K will just have to bend to) is to see one movie a month in the theatre. So. We're up to one, El Oh El.
Speaking of Mr. K, he left me a present in my car today - a bottle of Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi, and a note, which read:
I'm sorry you've had such a shitty week
It's bound to end this awful streak
The thing to remember most of all
Just give the word and I'll kill them all
Yes, my husband, he's such a romantic! (This is a Simpsons reference, no need to worry.)
Hope you all are having fun weekends!

Jan. 25th, 2007 12:00 pmAck. Busy. Sleeping more. Cleaning. Working. Skimming LJ.
Have Season 4 of MI-5, so will be AFK at least another week.
Love you all, per usual.
Catherine, I got your mix CD. Love it!
Sabs, birthday card coming your way. It got lost in a pile of mail, but is now out of the clutter.
Email is always appreciated!

Dec. 15th, 2006 12:20 am*blows dust off journal* Well, hello!
I've been lurking of late, spending some time on MySpace and being busy with things like Holiday cards, baking and shopping.
I got nuthin' to say aside from that.
Oh! Look what some lovely person wrote for me! Observation, a Neville/Ginny fic that is actually HOT. Wow.
Hopefully I'll feel more verbose later. Right now holiday stress, work and family drama leaves me so drained that everything else has kind of fallen by the wayside.
*hugs to you all*

Dec. 4th, 2006 10:40 pmChristmas tree finally up with much cursing of the birthday boy.
Cards are being put together and the rest sent this week. (I'm on a semi-mandatory vacation this week, so I have no excuse to be late getting these out.)
snoopypez, a light-up pen will be on its way to you tomorrow! I'm sure it will inspire you to write some Stephen/Tad. Hee.
I am thoroughly enjoying reading all the gift fics/art at
smutty_claus and
merry_smutmas, although I'm a bit worried that my fic recipient won't like what I wrote. :\
I've gotten Holiday cards from
rainpuddle13 and
snoopypez so far. This part of Christmas, I can handle.
Oh, and
badonkatonks, thanks a MILLION for the LJ time! You know I'd beta for you anytime! *smooch*

LAST CALL!
Nov. 27th, 2006 12:23 amLast call for Holiday cards! Leave your name and address here (screened).
I don't expect reciprocity, either, so don't worry about it. I'm also not a stalker-type; I can just as easily stalk you via the internets! And really, that's all the energy I'm willing to expend on stalking. The whole showing-up-at-your-door kind of stalking seems like too much effort.
In the first of what will probably be many queries about Phoenix Rising, please take THIS POLL:
[Poll #876071]

Nov. 20th, 2006 11:20 pmIf you haven't signed up for Holiday cards, please to be doing so here.
I really do love to send Holiday cards, and cards at other times of the year, so add your address!
All the cool kids are doing it.
I need to get my
smutty_claus submission in by Wednesday...I am feeling NO motivation to do so, however. Maybe tomorrow.
Today was spent running around to various appointments (podiatrist, GP, pharmacy, haircut, etc.) and then to workout.
Spinning/cycling has taken a heavy toll on my quads. They are so tight that I can barely move through a full range of lateral motion. It hurt so much to do simple leg lifts, I was in tears during toning class. Suckage. Myofascial stretching, here I come...
