A few random thoughts:

1. I've had two dreams about my old job (I actually have nightmares about that place, believe it or not), and I've decided to let some sleeping dogs lie rather than give Evil a possible upper hand. Yeeebooool.

2. Today I turned NPR off several times. Hearing about people squirting out tax deductions armies for "Christianity" and how the people involved with credit default swaps are the "real heroes" of the financial crisis - oh that we could all be so insightful! *stabbity*

3. I'm quasi-listening to American Idol. That's me, on the PULSE of popular culture.

4. Next week at this time, I will be in the presence of greatness! <3 Mozza

5. There is a HUGE sale going on this weekend, and I am broke as a joke. No fun. *pouts*

6. However, there will be food again, for which I (and the dog) are truly grateful! (Just kidding. Sort of.)

7. I'd planned to go to bed eeeearly tonight. Oops.

8. Hope you all will have better weekends, your kids' heads will heal properly, and that Spring will spring soon!
quidditchgrrl: (Run)
We had a heat wave today!  Nearly 40* all day!  With sun!  *squee*

I got some weird looks running on the snowy/icy/slushy sidewalks downtown in my tank top and gloves.  But OH GOD did it feel good!

Did it again after work...and I'm paying for it.  Yeowch, you forget how much cushioning treadmills have and how unforgiving concrete can be.

Guess I'm only doing the aqua aerobics tomorrow, my vastus medialis are not thanking me right now.  Way to go, genetics. :-P

So how YOU doin'?

Also, have been listening to Bright Shiny Morning, which is the third novel from the infamous James Frey.  I love stories that deal with the underbelly of life, people outside of the mainstream.  The book is a series of stories about various people in the LA area, interspersed with little historical "footnotes" about Los Angeles, switching from story to story, from a homeless drunk on Venice Beach who meets a young meth addict to a fabulously famous and rich power couple whose marriage is incredibly happy and totally platonic.  The narrator, Ben Foster, makes the story go - so very well-suited for screaming "FUCK FUCK FUCK" or calmly explaining the development of each of southern California's main aqueducts.

Tomorrow, I will attempt to sleep in, then clean house or go to the movies.  Then off to drink alcohol be eaten alive by bugs watch fireworks in Upper Arlington.  Can't think of a better way to celebrate civil disobedience than trying to escape the po-po by drinking wine from paper cups.  :-)

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend, or weekend, as the case may be.  *squishes*
quidditchgrrl: (Regret nothing. Especially beautiful bo)
There's something to be said about having a two-drink limit, but none of it is good. I'm a cheap date, anyway.

Four hours of sleep and a hangover later, here I am. Head pounding, stomach (settling down now after my egg and cheese sandwich) rolling - after two pints of Guinness. >.O

Somewhere, Ben Sanderson is laughing at me.

My psyche woke me up this morning, wanting to talk:

My Subconscious: I miss grandpa.
Me: Grandpa died when we were 2 and a half.
MS: But our memories of him are really good, though, huh?
Me: Shut up, I'm too hung over to be having this discussion right now.

(Yeah, you had to be there.)

There is no update on the work front, since no report has been written, and probably won't be for at least a week (at this rate, it could be 3 weeks before I know anything concrete). *scream face* Psychological torture - just another aspect of staff development at the library! However, my HR contact at the other library came in last night, and there are positive forces at work on the job front. Wish me luck!

I'm getting my hair did today, it's going to warm back up (hello, bicycle!), and I have the day off. Life? Not so bad. :-)
quidditchgrrl: (the bitch is in)
*clears cobwebs and dusts*

Well, hello!  Of course, my life has been so exciting that I have nothing to talk about.

Working, working out, angsting, making a possibly life-changing discovery, cycling, angsting...you get the picture.

Speaking of, I did take some pictures recently.

For those of you going to New Orleans next week, you will find me somewhere along the way...here's what I look like.

If you are so inclined, post a picture of yourself in the comments here, if I haven't already met you in person (or even if I have).

Other stuff, other stuff...I got nothin'.

Warm fuzzies to:
[livejournal.com profile] zorb, on her upcoming job/location change
[livejournal.com profile] hermorrine, on her ongoing move and new job
[livejournal.com profile] strangerface, for good apartment-hunting vibes
[livejournal.com profile] teshara, so she can get some sleep
[livejournal.com profile] hula_hagrid and [livejournal.com profile] badonkatonks (gonna miss you at PR!)
[livejournal.com profile] thaliachaunacy (same for you, babe)

And to all the rest of you, too.  :)

All manner of miscellaneous crap here....

First, remember on top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed? They have the lyrics here. Hee! Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] fiendling!

Also, a database of song covers! Too bad you can't buy Mp3s of them (either the covers or originalsongs). I really want the Foo Fighters' cover of "Darling Nikki."

Douchebags of 2006: I think they left several off the list, but I guess they had to stop atworst ten. Someone geld Flava Flav before he breeds again.

Last.fm is telling me it crashed...okay...back up! Whew, for a minute there I was worried I wouldn't be able to triple-task!

New Order had better not split up. I need to see them live!

Goingto lunch with my friend Mo on Saturday, then Rainbow thingy, thencollapse onto couch and sleeeeeep. Or stay up half the night andstumble into work Sunday, bleary-eyed. Yep.

Oh, just because I want someone else to get into it: Library Thing <-- catalog your books online!
quidditchgrrl: (Deal with it!)

Surfing Fark provides all the amusement one needs on a Saturday night.

Well, all the amusement a person not able to drink can have.

First,
Ten verses never preached on If only the Sunday school teacher had mentioned these, I might have been a believer.  Or not.

Second,
The top 15 strangest coincidences.  As someone who experiences a lot of deja vu and coincidence, this is kind of cool.  I believe in the attraction of people and fate.

Anyone else think that Time's
Person of the Year is super-lame?  Way to cop out, Time-Warner.  We all know it should have been Stephen Colbert!  But he just mattered.

Today I got a Holiday card from someone I am most CERTAINLY not friends with, nor will I ever be friendly with again.  It was like looking at a scar - you see the mark, but it doesn't feel like it happened to you, really.

Here are the
Top 50 Singles of 2006.  I'd say 99% of them are puke-worthy.  Though I do dig Gnarls Barkley and I love me some JT.  Shut up.

Ahahaha!  That Laffy Taffy song is on the list!  Can anyone tell me what the hell they mean by that?  I love misogynistic rap music as much as the next 'ho (as my addiction for David Banner's
"Play" shows), but even I couldn't make that out.

I had a massage Friday - painful!  Even my facial muscles were sore; how is that possible?!  But I'm not sore at all today.  I could get used to that.

I'm tired.

Hope you're having a good weekend!
quidditchgrrl: (SWC Best Friends)
A bunch of random drivel:

Oh, Stephen, Paul and Amy, how much do I love you? Let me count the ways. )

I've been reading an inordinate amount of Harry/Draco slash lately. By inordinate, I mean I'm actually reading it. Well, like two novel-length fanfics: Transfigurations by [livejournal.com profile] resonant8 and Left My Heart by [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01. Pretty good. Proof that one CAN read any pairing so long as it's well-written.

Also, this fic has me tied up in knots of several different sizes. So angsty!

Thing the fourth: I hate the Christmahanukwanzukkah season. Really. I do. When is January 3rd, again, so we can put all this crass commercialism back into the closet? Bah. Humbug.

One more thing. The soundtrack to The Last Kiss is the best thing to happen to soundtracks for a long, long time.

That is all.
quidditchgrrl: (Great Pumpkin)
You know those Take 5 bars?

Pretzels, caramel, peanuts, peanut butter and chocolate. It's pretty much the perfect food for days 18-21, eh? (Ladies, you know what I'm talkin' about.)

Wish I'd had these last week. Now they're just going to waste.

This, the first time I've been home for trick or treat night (they're usually on Thursdays, and I've closed on Thursdays since, oh, 1996), was spoiled by rain and my exhausted collapse into bed - I had intended to take a fifteen minute nap, but ended up sleeping for two hours. [livejournal.com profile] nerdork, I thought of you when I woke up.

My costume today consisted of wearing my Cedric Diggory quidditch shirt. I'm not creative and I hate holidays. Sue me. :P

But I wanna use this icon one more time...

1. Is John Oliver not the cutest thing ever? He's my favorite new TDS correspondent. It must be the overlong incisors. I really don't like Jason Jones.

2. I've been overdoing it on the Jon/Stephen RPS lately. Must.stop.lustingreading. Maybe should switch to Paul/Stephen for a while, cut back a little.

3. Anybody else LibraryThing? [livejournal.com profile] notasecretagent and I have accounts. Anyone? Bueller?

4. I had a decent day at work! It's amazing how much I can avoid getting done when I don't have time to do it put my mind to it. :P

5. My new Saturday night date is fark.com. Makes me feel good that most things can be tagged "scary", "sick", "dumbass", "spiffy", "asinine" or "Florida". SCARY: Coke rots your bones. *sips Diet Pepsi* >.>

6. Made it to disk #4 of The Greatest Story Ever Sold. Now there isn't as much commentary as just enumerating the misinformation and spin of linking 9/11 to Iraq is taking an enormous amount of air.

7. Quote of the day: "If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." -James Madison. McCarthy, eat your heart out.
quidditchgrrl: (O.o)
Holy crap, man. I went bowling with folks from work yesterday, and I am SORE. I didn't realize that bowling was such a...sport!

People, my ASS is sore, not just my arm/wrist. Cripes.

I already work out three days a week and do cardio five days. :/ Pro bowlers must have some killer glutes.

I've been lurking around, doing more via email lately. I had a talk with Honeybunch about LIFE SO HARD, and glory be, he's taking action! It's amazing what you can goad a person into when you invoke the "I married my father" salvo. (My dad isn't the most responsible or common-sensical person on earth, let's just say.)

[livejournal.com profile] madlori and [livejournal.com profile] rachet, you all made me wibbly several times this weekend! It's so nice to know people who are such good friends to each other. :)

Hope you all are having a good week so far (Monday's over, so things have to be looking up, eh?)!

I Rule.

I've felt a little down this week, busy and rushed even though this is the week.that.will.never.end.

So I decided to make some comfort food. I picked up How to Cook Everything: The Basics and paged through and found something that struck my fancy.

Oh, man. Fruit crisp. Perfect.

Recipe for Fruit Crisp )

I also bought fixin's for potato salad + homemade mayonnaise. Heaven.

Quick, some shoutouts before I pass out:
[livejournal.com profile] tonksnymphadora and [livejournal.com profile] archchancellor, who are working through Josie's hospitalization (and her mom, too)
[livejournal.com profile] singtoangels, for her new young'un!
[livejournal.com profile] badonkatonks, [livejournal.com profile] chickadilly, [livejournal.com profile] redblaze and [livejournal.com profile] alissomora, just 'cause.
[livejournal.com profile] authenticpoppy, I'll respond to your posts soon. Same to you, [livejournal.com profile] nsmom.
I'm so tired I'm ready to hurl. Night, y'all.
quidditchgrrl: (Just a manila envelope)
*crawls out from hidey-hole* Hey! Did I miss anything in fandom this week?! 8-|

I've been listening and burning tons of new stuff to my PC this week. I've gotten (from the library, natch):

Eyes Open, Snow Patrol
On The Jungle Floor, Van Hunt (Anyone else a fan? He's kind of awesome, in an old-school Prince kind of way.)
Songs From Black Mountain, Live
Chocolate and Cheese, Ween
Surprise, Paul Simon
How We Operate, Gomez

Those are the ones I'll burn wholesale. The rest (like Under the Iron Sea and Are You Nervous?) I'll have to screen for the non-sucky tracks.

Comfest is this weekend, and it's raining. *makes grumpy face* I'm oooooold. If it's raining, I don't want to be outside.

NIN and Bauhaus next week! And I am NOT staying late at work that day. Not.

I'm bored. I had all of my errands finished, plus ALL of my grocery shopping (meaning I hit KMart, Kroger, Wild Oats AND Dollar General), and had lunch before 1:00 today. o.O I wanted to go and see Brick, but I have to pick up Honeybunch at 5:30.

Maybe I should go and clean something. I was reading a terrible story today, and one of the police officers remarked at how clean and neat the house was. I thought, "if I was murdered, they'd think I was a lonely cat lady who never cleaned anything!" So, I must conquer the dust 'round here and get into the habit of cleaning. Getting new carpet right after Lumos, too.

My life, a thrill-a-minute.

/mind-numbing inanity
quidditchgrrl: (Rockin' the burbs)
Pointless, boring life update:

I'm home this morning! :D

Being productive, too. So far, I've:

Dropped Honeybunch off at work
Ate breakfast, took a shot (gotta get this blood sugar under control, no matter how much I gain)
Unloaded and reloaded dishwasher, cleaned counters
Washed 3 loads of laundry, with another ready to go in
Ironed ALL OF MY CLOTHES, which literally tripled my wardrobe
Planted grass seed
Took Bernie for a walk
Did some searching for info on Accomplia/Zimulti/Celnec (I can't even TELL you how excited I am about this drug!)
Added some music to my MP3 player for my ride tomorrow

Off to get ready for lunch and work (which I hope is busier than it has been...I left 3 hours early yesterday because I was so miserable with nothing at all to do. There are only so many bookends one can push in and so much shelf reading to be had)!
quidditchgrrl: (Crazy Colbert laughter!)
Meh. Randomosity.

1. I might get to sleep in tomorrow! We're going into month 4 of sharing my car, and god-DAMN is it inconvenient. The car is still not fixed yet, who knows why (as Honeybunch ponied up $750 to buy a transmission, and both tranny and car are with the mechanic). But Honeybunch will be working in the office tomorrow, so I might drop him off at work, leaving me free to be home more than 3 hours in a day. \o/

2. Ooh, they just showed headshots of Ahmadnejad and Dubya side-by-side on TDS, and they look alike! Creeeeepy. Squinty, shifty eyes on both of them.

3. TMI Girly Stuff. )

4. Lost. Well. All I can say is that I hope they have their plot together. Eko is awesome.

5. Back in Black! W00t! I <3 Lewis. And Billy Connolly! I love The Daily Show!

6. Mount of Olives chai tea makes the best ice tea ever. :-9

7. I've gained 6 pounds. :O Not cool. Must bike 20 miles every weekend, work out 3x/week and quit eating! Bought some Dexatrim Max today. It doesn't work. :(

8. I want to hug the whole world. *hug*

9. I'm finding it very hard to get off the PC at 11pm and watch TDS and TCR on the couch. Last night was torture - so much with the gay! I was dying to cruise the threads, but resisted. Lo, I am Xena!

10. When A Stranger Calls = the lamest movie ever. Gah.

11. Scottish accent = teh sex. Jon agrees. :>
quidditchgrrl: (Facts? We don't need no stinkin' facts!)
[livejournal.com profile] lissannej, there will be goodies on the way by Saturday. I wish I could wave a wand or perform some magic for you, too. *hugs*

Aaaand, I accidentally deleted my last entry. I will email you, Michele. -.-

Also, Lost. -.-

The exhaustion from the weekend is (finally) gone, but the sleep deprivation is still getting to me. Must sleep...can't sleep. If it were 10am, I'd barely have my eyes open. -.-

Does anyone have confirmation that Terry Gillam will direct HBP? 'Cause that would be pretty sweet.

Listening to Goodbye Alice In Wonderland, and it's good! Certainly living up to the hype (unlike Fiona Apple's latest, which was atrocious, IMO).

Did someone rec "A Night In Paris" somewhere? 'Cause I've gotten almost a dozen emails about it in the last week. Hm. I haven't looked at it for nearly two months. *sigh*

I think I shall attempt sleep. Night, all.
quidditchgrrl: (Eat it - Stephen is so better than ALL o)
I am watching CSPAN & the White House Correspondent's Dinner. Observations:

Valerie Plame is BEAUTIFUL. Femme fatale, indeed.

OMG, Anna DeVere Smith and the dude from Radio & TV Museum?! Odd couple...

Ben Rothlisberger? Ookay. HOLY SHIT! Ludacris! *ROFL* Maybe he and O'Reilly will duke it out in person tonight.

They just showed Stephen and his wife (who is thin and good-looking, darn it). He looks a little nervous, but he can still get that eyebrow up!

This is better than the Academy Awards, because I recognize more people and I hiss less at the people I don't like. More A listers here, too, and fewer handlers.

Stephen will take the stage at 10:25pm. Then TV Funhouse at 11:30pm. AAAAND, 60 Minutes interview tomorrow night. All Stephen all weekend long!

/geek
quidditchgrrl: (Love > hate)
Does it always take forever to dl torrents? I mean, it's 1.25GB, but it's been almost 24 hours! :(

I need a Jon/Stephen fix to take my mind off the monthlies. *stabs things randomly*

Spring is here. We cooked out for the first time (after spending 45 minutes trying to light the ceramic bricks we left in the grill from last year *facepalm*), and I had my first ice-cream-preservative-induced spew fest. Whyyyy can't I eat soft serve ice cream? :((

Tomorrow I start back on the healthy eating bandwagon. I cut out chocolate last week (made it, too!) and this week, cutting back on preservatives and carbs.

Such is life. Boring!
quidditchgrrl: (Heh Heh. Jon's mocking you AGAIN.)
Ah, the soothing beat of randomness:

Canned pink grapefruit is yummy, especially when eaten with chopsticks.

Three-day-old vegetable fried rice is decidedly not.

I am glad to see Sam Bee back on TDS. She takes eye-rolling to new heights of silliness.

Wow. The Sentinel is going to rock. Kiefer! <3

Ooh-hoo-hoo! Don't screw with Thomas Dolby!

For the record, I think Moses is a cute name. As is Apple. Just so that's on the record. In case you were wondering where I stand on the issue.

Also, how hard is it to call upstairs and ask someone the proper answer to a question? Because when the library gives you incorrect information, we all look like asshats. *sporks*

I am the only person in the entire world who does not give a flying poo about the Arctic Monkeys. Don't know, don't care. Killers wannabes

Natasha Bedingfield, go home to England, for all our sakes. You're no Robbie Williams.

'Night, all.
