Things I have done on my unexpected 4-day vacation:
--Gathered exterminator quotes for the Lodge. This went waaaay up on the list when I opened our outside mailbox to find a 3-inch wide wasp nest D:
--Pulled a groin muscle changing positions while doing side bends, of all the silly ways to hurt yourself.
--Applied for 4562562041 jobs.
--Received notification for another civil service test (a customer service test, with scenarios!) - I WILL PWN THIS EXAM.
--Made tons o' notes for panel presentation at Portus: fandom history, H/Hr wankage, the "classics" of H/Hr fanfic, etc. Ah, memories!
--Had sushi at Sushi Ting. V. v. good. Don't let the humble location fool you (aren't most of the best sushi joints in out of the way places?).
--Ate lunch at Northstar Cafe, nearly reenacting the deli scene from "When Harry Met Sally", the food was soooooo good. The salad tasted like it had just been picked from the field, and the carrots on my korma were super-tender-crispy. *dies of culinary joy*
--Had an ultrasound of my calf, which has been giving me hell for about a year now. The pain is right in the center of my calf, and whether it's a DVT or a ruptured muscle/tendon/ligament, hopefully this will show what it is. My leg has been very jerky when I fall asleep - like I kick out at the knee - for the last few months. Kept jerking, too, while the US was being done ('cause I kept falling asleep). I don't have restless leg syndrome, but I do wonder if it's related to this pain. It only bothers me when I'm sitting for a long time, sleeping on my back/butt, or when I'm doing circle step class. I hope they find something, so that the doc doesn't think it's just another "psychosomatic" episode, like that whole stomach pain thing back in 2004. -.-
--
--Ran and ran and ran some more.
--Shopped and shopped and shopped some more.
--Napped and napped and napped some more.
Things I have not done on my unexpected 4-day vacation:
--Gotten my hair cut.
--Done much of anything at the Lodge; other than vacuuming and dusting, I've been slacking this month. Must.paint.the.walls.soon.
--Seen Wanted or Wall-E or any of the other movies I promised myself I'd see on my time off.
--Studied for my lab assistant exam. No idea what will be on it, tbh - I hope they ask more about procedures and less about calculations. Conceptual/applied science FTW!
--Biked. At all. :-(
--Talked to anyone I didn't feel like. Now get off my lawn. ;-)
--Packed for Portus. Or worried about it much at all. I'm kind of a control freak about traveling, but I think it's the least of my mind's worries. Crashing out of the sky in a fireball is nothing at this point.
--Given a shit about work, aside from the occasional sporfle.
--Wore any makeup at all. Or dressed in anything but Adidas workout gear. I think this interest in becoming a personal trainer may have a good deal of merit...
--Slept in.
Also, have been listening to Bright Shiny Morning, which is the third novel from the infamous James Frey. I love stories that deal with the underbelly of life, people outside of the mainstream. The book is a series of stories about various people in the LA area, interspersed with little historical "footnotes" about Los Angeles, switching from story to story, from a homeless drunk on Venice Beach who meets a young meth addict to a fabulously famous and rich power couple whose marriage is incredibly happy and totally platonic. The narrator, Ben Foster, makes the story go - so very well-suited for screaming "FUCK FUCK FUCK" or calmly explaining the development of each of southern California's main aqueducts.
Tomorrow, I will attempt to sleep in, then clean house or go to the movies. Then off to
Hope you all have a great holiday weekend, or weekend, as the case may be. *squishes*

Date: 2008-07-14 01:42 am (UTC)What happened was: I worked on Sunday July 6, which means that I get another day off during the week (Wednesday). I asked for Tuesday off, then Weds for comp time, and we closed early on Thursday (not needed), and the holiday was Friday...thus, a 4-day vacation. Yays! :D

Date: 2008-07-08 04:13 am (UTC)If you get a chance to see it, Mongol is very good as well.
Why were you off for four days unexpectedly? I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I have my fingers crossed for you on the exam!
Have you ever taken a generic type muscle relaxant? It probably sounds stupid, but Flexeril is great.
