Jacquie, you ARE going to Phoenix Rising, yeah?

How 'bout the rest of you?

Yay! It took us about 15 hours to hit the Gulf when we went down to LA in 1997. I'm definitely flying in - it's worth saving 8 hours over $20 (which would be about all I'd save over driving, really).

Oklahoma really is kind of in the middle of nowhere, eh?

If Skeeter and I drive we could pick you up at the airport. If anyone knows how to have a good time in NO it's me and my husband. Come hungry, and thirsty!

That would be great! It all depends on whether or not I end up staying at the Sheraton ($165 a night is pretty steep).

I need tour guides that will take me away from the touristy areas and to the GOOD stuff, sounds like you're the ones! :D

Ohio to LA? Definitely a flying trip. ;) I drove to a con in Indy last April, and it seems about as equidistant from OKC as New Orleans - the gas $$ was hideous, but if I have one or two people with me to split it like we did for Indy, that'll definitely be cheaper than flying. And 11 hours of driving between 3 people isn't too bad. ;) (Having our own transportation made it a lot easier to get around town, too.) I'm going to have to dangle this in front of some people and see what I come up with in the way of travel buddies, heh.

And yeah, not a lot here except for wildfires. ;) Not even any decent fan meetups.
