Nov. 22nd, 2005 01:30 amAnyone else find it amusing that the President has found his way to Mongolia in his quest to avoid his testy constituents?
Beware, Mongolians: the President might bescouting for oil trying to bring democracy to your fair land.
Okay, okay, I'll take the rest of this to my political journal.
Well, this morning
Things went very well. I got to the hospital around 9:00am and there is my sister, sitting up in bed, in full makeup. Since she wasn't going to be doing much, might as well look her very best, you know. She was pretty nervous about things, even though she acted nice and calm.
They took her back at 10 for the c-section, and we (Jay's mom and stepmom were there, too) went to the waiting room. And waited. And waited some more. Not supposed to take so long...we started getting worried, but decided not to panic until 11:30.
At 11:25 Jay came out to get us. My sister ended up needing general anesthesia - the spinals didn't work (they tried twice) - to do the c-section. The kidlet was fine, and we watched her getting her Apgar scores and her first bath. She IS perfect, just like
rachet predicted, very calm, no vitiligo or acne, nice round head.
It's going to be interesting to see if she turns out to look as much like my sister as she does now. Neither of us (my sister and I) look like anyone in our immediate family, or each other, so no one has ever really been able to predict what we'll look like or what our kids will look like. Kidlet has blue eyes though, which thrills my sister to death.
My sister had to stay in recovery for almost two hours, and (obviously) she didn't get to see the kidlet first thing. So we all got to see her first reaction, which was exciting.
I got lunch while kidlet was having hers. I've walked in on too many friends not to know when to get the hell out of Dodge. Bleh.
Kidlet was nicely sleepy, but wiggly in the afternoon. Realized the wiggles were her way of saying LAY ME ON MY BACK SO I CAN SLEEP DAMMIT, rather than a result of anything else. Thank goodness. Nothing worse than baby poo.
If any of you are wondering, nope, still no desire to start popping 'em out. I figure I can increase my genetic fitness by increasing the fitness of my close relations' offspring.
1:30am. Morpheus mocks me. Mock mock mockety mock mock.

Congrats on your niece! My c-section went smoothly until they started sewing up my uterus and I was like "I CAN FEEL THAT" and they put something in my IV that sent me away to Oz. Which was a great improvement to that kind of agony.
