Anyone else find it amusing that the President has found his way to Mongolia in his quest to avoid his testy constituents?

Beware, Mongolians: the President might be scouting for oil trying to bring democracy to your fair land.

Okay, okay, I'll take the rest of this to my political journal.

Well, this morning

Things went very well. I got to the hospital around 9:00am and there is my sister, sitting up in bed, in full makeup. Since she wasn't going to be doing much, might as well look her very best, you know. She was pretty nervous about things, even though she acted nice and calm.

They took her back at 10 for the c-section, and we (Jay's mom and stepmom were there, too) went to the waiting room. And waited. And waited some more. Not supposed to take so long...we started getting worried, but decided not to panic until 11:30.

At 11:25 Jay came out to get us. My sister ended up needing general anesthesia - the spinals didn't work (they tried twice) - to do the c-section. The kidlet was fine, and we watched her getting her Apgar scores and her first bath. She IS perfect, just like [livejournal.com profile] rachet predicted, very calm, no vitiligo or acne, nice round head.

It's going to be interesting to see if she turns out to look as much like my sister as she does now. Neither of us (my sister and I) look like anyone in our immediate family, or each other, so no one has ever really been able to predict what we'll look like or what our kids will look like. Kidlet has blue eyes though, which thrills my sister to death.

My sister had to stay in recovery for almost two hours, and (obviously) she didn't get to see the kidlet first thing. So we all got to see her first reaction, which was exciting.

I got lunch while kidlet was having hers. I've walked in on too many friends not to know when to get the hell out of Dodge. Bleh.

Kidlet was nicely sleepy, but wiggly in the afternoon. Realized the wiggles were her way of saying LAY ME ON MY BACK SO I CAN SLEEP DAMMIT, rather than a result of anything else. Thank goodness. Nothing worse than baby poo.

If any of you are wondering, nope, still no desire to start popping 'em out. I figure I can increase my genetic fitness by increasing the fitness of my close relations' offspring.

1:30am. Morpheus mocks me. Mock mock mockety mock mock.

I too am mocked by Morpheus. Shoot, doesn't he know that I have a job and a kid to deal with starting in, oh, about 3 hours?

Congrats on your niece! My c-section went smoothly until they started sewing up my uterus and I was like "I CAN FEEL THAT" and they put something in my IV that sent me away to Oz. Which was a great improvement to that kind of agony.

Awww congrats on being an auntie. I never had the desire to have kids myself... I'll settle for being the cool auntie or cousin or whatever. It's fun.

That's like the best feeling in the world (and in some ways, the scariest)...when you're hurting, then a little burn across the chest, then...Oz...;)

Well, some babies have very dark blue eyes for the first day or so. We thought she had brown eyes, but they lightened up pretty quickly.

Her name is Natalie Elizabeth. I think all females born into the family for the next decade will have Elizabeth in their name, for my mom.

Yeah, I'm not planning to have kids, but being an aunt rocks. Mainly because you can get up and go to your nice, quiet, kid-free home when things get hairy.

Still no desire for you own though. ;)

It's all pretty amazing. I am watching Kingdom of Heaven and I fear I am only watching it for the bried moments with Edward Norton.

It's all about kid-free for me. The kids are fine but it's great to know I can go home and drink vodka or look at porn or whatever and it's peaceful. My kids all have fur.

No, no kids. Andy and I spent most of our time today playing with his 4-year-old niece, and he was exhausted. (I have a little more resilience with the kidlets.)

Edward Norton is in KoH?!?!?! *reserves*

ew kidlets. Just gross.

He is King Bernard the Leper, which means you don't actually see his face but for one brief shining moment when Sybylla his sister removes the mask he wears. However, the voice is still there. *swoons*
