Saw this on [livejournal.com profile] snoopypez's journal, and it looked like fun. Too bad it's limited to seven - typically I'm obsessed with/into about 652172348 songs at any given time. Just check my last.fm profile...

List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Dakota - Stereophonics

Thinking back, thinking of you
Summertime think it was June
Yeah think it was June
Laying back, head on the grass
Chewing gum having some laughs
Yeah having some laughs

This song has a great rhythm, and it's a great get-up-and-go song for me.

2. Daily Nightly - The Monkees

Darkened rolling figures move thru' prisms of no color.
Hand in hand, they walk the night,
But never know each other.
Passioned pastel neon lights light up the jeweled trav'ler
Who, lost in scenes of smoke filled dreams,
Find questions, but no answers.

The Monkees freaking rock, especially their later, more psychadelic stuff. I still love them, and listen to at least one Monkees song a day. Peter is my favorite; I never cared much for Davy, the supposed "cute one".

3. Coma Girl - Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros

I was crawling through a festival way out west
I was thinking about love and the acid test
But first I got real dizzy with a real rocking gang
Then I saw the Coma Girl and the excitement gang

Another pick-me-up song. Just straight-out folksy rock and roll. Rest in peace, Joe.

4. Forget Her - Jeff Buckley

Well my tears fall down as I try to forget,
Her love was a joke from the day that we met.
All of the words, all of her men,
all of my pain when I think back to when.

This song is so sad...I have this thing with one of our local morning DJs where he insists on playing songs that make me cry. So I email him about it, he mocks me, then moves on to yet another song that makes it impossible to put on eyeliner...thanks Brian! This song was originally intended to be released on the Grace album, but Jeff refused, saying it was "too personal". It wasn't released until after Jeff's death in 1998, IIRC.

5. Why Does It Always Rain On Me? - Travis

Sunny days
Where have you gone?
I get the strangest feeling you belong
Why does it always rain on me?
Is it because I lied when I was seventeen?

Very melodic, certainly melancholy, but not over the top. Chris Martin, you copycat!

6. Alternative to Love - Brendan Benson

Maybe I'm just damaged goods
And, baby, you're a babe in the woods
And me, I'm just a little lost lamb
But you love me wherever I am
And maybe I've been caught red handed
Making off like a lucky bandit
And this wasn't how I planned it

I only have this song attached to [livejournal.com profile] thejiglett's awesome Jon/Stephen fanvid. *nudgenudge to anyone who might have it as an mp3* I must be getting into another funk, since I'm listening to more peppy stuff. This song does fit a lot of life-experience situations, so it's an all-purpose pick me up song, and hearing it attached to this particular fanvid causes me to smile every time. ;)

7. Hard Luck Woman - KISS

If never I met you
I'd never have seen you cry
If not for our first "Hello"
We'd never have to say goodbye
If never I held you
My feelin's would never show
It's time I start walkin'
But there's so much you'll never know
I keep telling you hard luck woman
You ain't a hard luck woman

I won't tag any of you, since this meme takes for freaking ever with all the uploading, linking and such. But if you want, do it and choose a genre (all-time favorites, saddest songs, songs you like to listen to when you're angry, happy, etc.), or stick to the spirit of the meme. It's great to hear what everyone likes to listen to, and what sticks with you for the long-term.
quidditchgrrl: (Dancing Dan)
That 25-song random lyric meme thingy is going around, so you know what that means:

A list of impossible-to-guess lyrics! )

But c'mon, take a gander and a guess.
quidditchgrrl: (Kissable lips)
Song meme thing, as I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] slytherincess. I got sick of uploading; I have most of these songs, so if you'd like to hear one, let me know.

As a counterpoint to that, there are several artists that I am lacking in my 30+ GB of music. Hrm.

Crazy-long memeage ahead! )

[livejournal.com profile] purebloodgryff adds:
67. First song that made you think about sex:  "So Alive" Love and Rockets
68. Favorite Jimmy Buffet song:  "Come Monday"
69. Favorite Red Hot Chili Peppers Song: "Catholic Schoolgirls Rule"

That took me, literally, HOURS. Asking me to pick ONE song is like Chinese water torture.

Maybe I need to get out more, instead of spending my Saturday night tooling around Library Thing. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] amanderpanderer, for pointing this site out!

And I missed the Lurch; we didn't get the couch tonight as planned. Double pout.
quidditchgrrl: (Kissable lips)
Well, okay, not really. I don't have an IPod to shuffle, just a little MP3 player for bike rides. But, lyric meme!

Here are some lyrics of songs I've recently ripped to my PC. Oh, CML, how I love your vast selection of free music!

These are all singles new and old; please, no Googling.

Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody )

Totally excited about Witching Hour, nervous as usual, and wondering if I should just forgo trying to decide ahead of time what to go to and just go wherever I want to...I have some things I know I'll be at (fanfic readings, banquets and such), but there are SO MANY CHOICES!

Talked to [livejournal.com profile] authenticpoppy via phone tonight. V. good conversation. Must try Neil Gaiman and Christopher Moore.

Night.
quidditchgrrl: (Peace)
Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] megome:

"The following is my List. You may post Lists of your own in similar format, but if you talk shit about my List I am going to mock you because disagreeing with an opinion posted on the internet wastes my time and yours. The rules are that each component of your List can only contain five bands, so make your opinions count. You may not list a band on more than one category. GO:"

quidditchgrrl: (Rockin' the burbs)
Haven't done a lyric meme for a while.

Please ignore the next few lines cause they're directed at you )

Resist the urge to Google!
quidditchgrrl: (Heaven Knows by fritters)
Work has been kicking my ass to the four corners of late.  HR troubles and a bad new hire make PBG a very cranky girl.  And I've been writing *gasp* and it's actually fairly decent stuff.

I could rant about it, but I'm just too tired to make a go of it.

*sigh*  If I only had four more hours in each day.

But I did find the time to raid my RealPlayer files for more lyric meme goodness! )

ETA: No time with Renee this weekend :( I think we've both had really awful weeks, and would probably create a black hole if we were to get together!
