quidditchgrrl: (Fascinating. Yes.)
I'm not avoiding you...I'm just...avoidant.

No access to social networking sites at work.  It's kind of nice, though, to be expected to actually accomplish something at work and not just tool around posting random crap.

Learning more about hydrogeology and petrocarbon chemistry than I ever thought possible.  I guess those two years of organic chemistry weren't altogether wasted.

Avoiding politics.  Hate Obama.  Hate Biden.  Hate McCain.  Hate Palin.  I'm on a 100% news hiatus, aside from snippets of NPR or the headlines on Fark.  Not even TDS or TCR.  No.  I can catch up later, when I may be able to laugh rather than rage.

Good news?  I can run on my lunch break and have lost nearly 10 pounds since I started work.  Which is nice.  Paid off my car and several credit cards, hiked up my student loan payments to where they *ought* to be (ouch), and will start socking away a larger portion of my pay into savings.

Have been going to concerts with friends, and alone.  What?  You thought my husband would go with me?  You kid.  My friends are le awesome, though, and humor me whenever possible.

I saw John Green speak last week.  He's kind of awesome.  And if you haven't seen Hank Green's "Accio Harry Potter," well.  Get on that.  :)

He reminded me that in order to become a real person, one needs to read, and write, in order to complete the process of thinking.  Spending too much time in one's own head is not good (and don't we all know that).  I tend to get lost in there.  My emotions fled a while ago, maybe sucked into the hinterlands of my amygdala.

Aaaaannd.  It looks like I've missed [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus signups.  *cries*  *goes to email [livejournal.com profile] r_becca*

Last, but not least, I've not been very good about keeping up with ElJay, but I'm thinking of the whole flist muchly.  *huggles you all*
quidditchgrrl: (Fuck Off)
First, ILU guys, you make me feel like a million bucks!  *smooches*

Second, I'm spending most of my online time working on job hunting.  Actually, all of my time.

Third, I totally get what you said about breaking up with your job, [livejournal.com profile] mostcurious.  I'm so done.  Just, done.  I have to go to work and smile and pretend that nothing is wrong, when all I want to do is cry and rage and spit.

This is kind of stuff I'm dealing with )

I just want out.  I applied for 54 jobs yesterday, 19 today.  I'll be sending paper resumes out tomorrow for another.  Please please please let me get what I want...I hate feeling like I'm never going to find that elusive "good fit" job, or that I'll keep running into the 3-year blahs.

My current song just came on, and...*orders Girls Just Want to Have Fun from Amazon*

Aaaaah - I hate feeling this this.  Bleh!  I want to feel good again!  I want to run because I want to, not just to stay sane.  Maybe I should start marathon training *dies laughing*

Oh, I know nearly everyone is super-into Twilight, but I tried again this weekend and...nothing.  Not even RPatt as...the dude...could get me interested.  Sigh.  Sometimes, I wish I had enough of an attention span to concentrate on fads, TV shows and stuff!  But then I remember, there's always US Weekly and People.  And Harry Potter.  :-)

One of these days I'll post a light-hearted, happy entry.  Hopefully one that details my new job!

<3 to you all, because reading LJ is something good I can do every day.
quidditchgrrl: (Can you handle the truthiness?)
First off, I do enjoy Kanye West.  Not his music, necessarily, but while he's not the most eloquent speaker, he does hit the nail on the head here:  "MTV exploited Britney and me"

Why, yes, yes, they did.  I hope you weren't expecting....something else? (Like Dubya caring about black people, maybe?)

Also, say what you like about Britney Spears, but don't you dare call her fat.  She is NOT.  Eff directly off if you think so.  And go work out, you fat slob.

/utter snarkiness

Some government dipshit (a Homeland Security dipshit, no less) said today yesterday that Osama bin Laden is "virtually impotent" and unable to run al Qaeda.

*screams*

Yeah, I'd say those words were chosen with careful purpose...to taunt "The Base" into action.  Truly, is there nothing this administration won't do to kill their citizens?

I'm sure I could continue pontificating with more of my Unpopular Opinions, but I'm tired.  Real life update, some memes I've been tagged for - those will have to wait until I'm less of a zombie.

Mm, brains...
quidditchgrrl: (Oh SNAP!)
[livejournal.com profile] nmalfoy posted today about her social life. A friend on MySpace claims "nice guys" are a dying breed (HA!), but of course, the myth still remains:

Girls just don't like "nice guys."

I'm adding my own take to what's contained in this Craigslist post - please read it first, then my thoughts )

Think I'm full of it?  Want my list of really-nice-guy traits?  Don't care?  Love your "nice guy"?  Tell me!  :)
quidditchgrrl: (Stephen + Paul = BFF)
I've been kind of offline recently, what with back troubles, work troubles, and my other job...I still loff you all and catch up with LJ as often as possible.

So what is the what:

My husband is being a twatwaffle because I didn't get him the sub that he wanted from Subway (they were out of the marinara/meatball sauce). He's been a peach about doing EVERY LAST THING these past two weeks, and this was his straw, I guess.  Too bad I am finding it annoying, but also seriously amusing.

I discovered one of my true loves betrayed me: )

In other news, Iggy Pop rules the world.  That is the ugliest, sexiest man on the planet.  Eat your heart out, Mick Jagger.

The Progressive has a great interview with Lewis Black

Life news: )

If you've made it this far, kudos!  Hope you all are having fun wherever you are, whatever you're doing.
