Dear Donna,

The biopsies of the end of the stomach showed mild gastritis. It does not explain the compressive affect that we saw at the time of endoscopy. We then obtained the CAT scan of the upper abdomen. It describes a "lobulated" soft tissue filling defect in the end of the plylorus measuring 4x3 cm. There is narrowing of the plylorus but not total gastric obstruction, which we had already found by the endoscopy. they also describe low density regional in the anterior margins of the right and left lobes of the liver thought most likely representing focal fatty infiltration. They also have two small right ovarian cysts. At this point in time, I would recommend seeing [OSU doc]...He can do an intraprocedural sound wave of this area and define whether it needs to be removed surgically and to further elucidate what this is.

*sigh* Sounds like more tests are forthcoming before I'll receive any relief. I'm surprised about the cysts although I have some irregular menstrual pain (read heinous cramps like 99% of women) it's nothing that's gotten worse.

I don't care what they do as long as they do something to help with the pain and move forward to get this resolved to my satisfaction.

Will give report on visit south of Mason-Dixon line soon. Am at skip=one zillion right now, I'll never be caught up. I'll try to bang out emails to those who need them in the next couple of days.

Well, it sounds like the docs are starting to identify the causes of the pain. Ovarian cysts= watch very, very closely. They're probably nothing to worry about; when I had one, my doc told me lots of women in their late 20s get them.

*hugs*

How goes the spinning? I'm starting to like my class.

Spinning is good, when I have time to get to the classes (whoever thought Saturdays at 9am was doable is nuts). It really engages me, and it's solitary but directed, which I like about it. No partners. No talking. Just panting and pushing. :)

Whoa. It sounds like you are getting closer to the source of the problems anyway. The cysts are common, though. I've had them. I remember looking at a newly burst one on an ultrasound and it was really weird. (But kinda cool in that same weird way.) :o)

Cysts are devilish little things.

Gastro-intestinal stuff is so tricky. I think that we forget sometimes how massive all of our insides really are. There is so much stuff in there. It's really amazing. That we've figured things out is great.

They will get there. I wish I could send you some relief in a box.

Boo on the more tests! But if it's what is needed to get relief, go for it.

As for the ovarian cysts, likely (depending on what size they are) your doctor will adopt a "watch and wait" approach, unless they get very big or start causing problems. They're actually very common. Just as long as they don't become alien-sized.

Donna, I completely meant to come back and comment on this, but I've been preoccupied as of late and neglected to do so -- for that, I'm sorry, hon. I really hope that they are able to do something for the pain and that you feel better soon. Have been thinking of you *hugs*
