I went shopping earlier today and found some cute things, none of which were athletic wear or shoes.  :-P

Then I went to dinner and got nicely tipsy and ate a veggie burger with my fingers.

Know how I've been having nightmares recently?  Well, I went and saw The Strangers tonight, too.

Uh, yeah.  Never sleeping again.  Ever.

I didn't go over the list carefully, but I will say that you really should add Memento onto your list of "Want to see." It's an excellent movie, and innovatively made.

Just my opinion, of course. :)

Unforgiven and Blue Velvet are two of my favorite movies of all time.

I don't run around recommending David Lynch movies to people. He isn't the sort of director that's for everyone. A person knows if Lynch's material will be to their taste.

OTOH, Unforgiven is an incredible movie. Yes, it's nihilistic, but it is also deeply moving. It cuts deep into the myth of evil. Evil acts can be committed by ordinary people to get by in a perfectly ordinary world. Evil is banal and flat. Gene Hackman is fantastic in this movie.

And I SO agree with you about Sideways. I have no desire what-so-ever to see that one at all.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] sproutgirl - Memento is a very well made movie and if you get the chance to see it, watch. Lots of suspense. Also, Witness is v. good. Big, big lies about the Amish, but it's good anyway.

Unforgiven - Of the things I remember from Unforgiven, I remember Gene Hackman saying, "The Duck of Death."

Sideways - Paul Giamatti does a great job playing a depressed person -- shoulder slump, facial expressions, and all. The first time I saw it, I laughed my hiney off. The second time it was a downer...that this was what these men were living for? Wine (Miles) and getting laid (Jack)?

I've heard a lot of people say the same thing about Sideways. They liked it at first glance, but after thinking about it, they changed their minds and went "WTF?"

"Unforgiven" blew me away. I'm a huge Clint Eastwood fan and I really like Westerns. (Surprise!) Along with "Pale Rider" I think "Unforgiven" is one of the best Westerns ever made. That said, I'm looking forward to "Blood Meridian". I have a feeling that it's going to be right up there with those two.

The American expansion into the West wasn't pretty.

Fargo...I can't believe how much I laugh through that movie, and I catch myself asking if I should be laughing.

I did the same thing. Sick isn't it? That's the Coen brothers though.

It was the same way with "No Country For Old Men". There were a couple parts that made me grin that were just - inappropriate. NCFOM doesn't have nearly as much absurdity as Fargo, however. It's still McCarthy even though it's in the hands of the Coen brothers. The Coen brothers did a beautiful job with it.)
