I hate not having time to get through my flist each day...I feel like I'm really behind and it's stressing me out, man.

However, my sleep schedule seems to have normalized (read I've slept 5 hours/night for the past three nights, yay) so I should now have more time to devote to the internets!  Yeah, famous last words.

I know some of you have been watching the BBC/Masterpiece Jane Austen remakes.  As a huge Austen fangirl and a big fan of Spooks, I was well-pleased with I have this proprietary thing about Persuasion.  I've despised almost every film adaptation made so far.  This one, though, was better.  Maybe it was the decent chemistry between Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones (omg such a cutie) or that they kept their eyes off each other.  The painful awkwardness was all there, and that makes all the difference - especially with Wentworth.

Sigh.  I love Jane Austen.

I'll watch Northanger Abbey when it reruns at midnight tonight - I actually have never read/seen this one (like [livejournal.com profile] thursday_last), so I'm interested to see if I like it.  Should probably get on reading that.

Also, found time this weekend to see (spoilers!)

I was unsure if I would like this at all - Andy'd seen a review at Rotten Tomatoes that said folks over the age of 30 would have a hard time enjoying it.  But enjoy it, I did!  What can I say, I'm a sucker for the post-apcalyptic monster-movie genre.

The hand-held camera formula didn't bother me too much, but OMG HUD WAS SUCH A FUCKING DOUCHEBAG I wanted to punch the screen every time he said anything.  Boy howdy.  The 9/11-esque stuff wasn't enough to annoy me, thank goodness, although I couldn't understand why people would run out onto the street or walk away from their homes for no reason.

I liked that there was a fair bit of emotion and you only got to see the small camera view through the entire thing...only the one big-focus in on the monster (and can I say I did cheer, just a little, when the monster chomped on Hud) from the 'copter, and then the ending being under a bridge, sirens wailing, just two people saying "I love you" and "Goodbye".

Not bad.

In other news, er...still running/training for the half-marathon, spending time with friends, working and job hunting.  Falling down walls, learning to be more patient.  Trying to figure out whether an MBA would be a good idea, or if I should pursue a MA.  Figuring out logistics for attending two HP conferences within two weeks of each other, and planning a trip for the end of the year.

Lucky I only need five hours of sleep right now, eh?

*hugs* to you guys...drop me a line, let me know what's going on with you all.  :)

Me too! He was kinda cute in the beginning in a spastic kinda way with his crush on Marlena, but once things got serious, I wanted to smack him upside the head.

I only watched bits and pieces of Northanger Abbey (I was watching the Giants/Green Bay game), but I liked the parts I saw. I taped it for a later viewing. I should also get to reading it, though.

Hope everything's okay with you. Don't stress too much about not catching up on your friendslist; at least it'll always be there.

I'm in the midst of pulling together a birthday party. Kid turns six tomorrow. Still trying to figure out how that happened so fast.

Ach, good luck with that! Only a few more years before he's using deodorant and calling girls on the phone! D:

My brain is getting sucked out by music theory class, four choirs, and a small tenor named Paul. So really, I have nothing to whine about. ;)

And yet you still have the time to post all those happenings in your journal!

Hush! You sound like my mom. Or, like she would if she ever knew I did such a thing. XB
