I finally had a nice, boring weekend!

Saturday I had PT with a nice woman who came in just for me.  Hopefully they'll let me out early, then maybe I can have some work strengthening; I'm still a little nervous about doing much lifting.

Then I went downtown to see the marker dedication for the Main Library.  Very nice, really big historical sign.  They've done some renovating, too - new carpet, new paint, new cherry endcaps and furniture.  I always wonder how they manage to keep every library looking great and doing redecorating every 8 years or so when we can't manage to get new carts, paint or carpet until something breaks or water starts cascading from the ceiling onto the reserve shelves.  :-\

ANYWAY.

I had to drive into Franklinton to get ibuprofen (cramps, yargh) and have the usual "omg wtf ghetto store charges out the wazoo" experience at Family Dollar.  $3.50 for a bottle of 20 Advil gelcaps.  Talk about getting jacked!  Bistards.

Went to North Market for lunch.  On a Saturday afternoon.  Mistake, BIG mistake.  People, if you're bringing your kids, for the love of Pete, leave your SUV-sized stroller in the mini-van!!  And don't get pissy with me when I say, "could you move, please?" when you stop in the middle of the freaking walkway to talk to someone rather than move to the side.  The 50 other people waiting to get by are glad I piped up, trust me.  BUT, I had a veggie taster plate, and all was well.

The rest of the day was...uneventful.  I didn't make it to the Grandview Art Hop, will try that next month, maybe (it'll be the last Friday of each month).

Today, I slept in(!) and skipped weeding - will do that Tuesday - to go for a bike ride.  ADVENTURE ENSUED.  PSA:  if there is a concrete barrier blocking the bike path, and especially if there is a sign enumerating, among other things:
--The area is closed to all traffic
--The area is unstable and extremely dangerous
--There is no outlet
You should NOT blow by the barrier and attempt to find a way around.

*cough*  There was no shoulder between the path and the river - literally, water was licking the path to the right - and they'd put up a fence on the other side that left about one foot of trail.  So.  I crashed into the fence, got my pants tangled up in my fly wheel, and nearly went headfirst into the swollen up Olentangy River.  Good times!

(For the record, I only actually read the sign as I was coming back the other way and before I dragged myself up a 60* incline to the elevated bike path rather than test my luck again.)

Yes, I am SMRT.

The detour around took me up around Lennox/King/5th Avenue, then back via King and Cannon Drive.  Did I mention that I don't have a helmet?  Meep!  Even on the sidewalk, riding by the OSU Med Center is scary.  You'd think they'd have handicap ramps at each intersection, but you'd be wrong.

I also inadvertently stumbled upon a squatter's homestead.  If by stumbled you mean 'got close enough for mutual realization and too effing close for comfort for both of us'.  I decided then that I was just going to stick to the damn path the rest of the way.

Next ride, I'm going to bring my camera and take some pictures of the skyline and green space near the arena district and Santa Maria.  Absolutely beautiful.  As much as people complain about Columbus, it's a great place to live - there is always something to do, somewhere to go, nice scenery, green space, etc.  You can find just as many cranky homeless people and used hypodermic needles here as you can in NYC!  You just can't live in the suburbs and expect the city to come to you (though I wager it's just as easy to find hypodermics out in Hilliard as it is in Battelle Park).

Another goal met:  ogling all those hunky, shirtless men on their bikes/jogging.  Makes those 90 minutes just fly by.  Hubba hubba.  :->

NOW, A QUESTION:  Anyone interested in going to the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe and hanging out on Friday, May 25?  It used to be a standing date in the past, but life and other things kind of got in the way...do the end of happy hour in the back bar area, have dinner, you know the drill.  Kids welcome, drinking optional, come and leave whenever, all that.  Let me know!
