I knew this was going to happen. Even the Energizer bunny's batteries eventually run down. This morning it felt like someone had punched me in the head. Dead batteries.

I think five months is the longest I've gone with insomnia before crashing & burning since my mom died. Go me?

Still, I did it for three years, once. Going that long without sleeping more than four hours at a time must be indicative of some sort of craziness.

Now, the past three years, I was pathologically ill, which meant that I slept a lot. It was strange. I felt strange.

No wonder I've been feeling more myself this year - the manic panic is back! But no, I can't help it. Insomnia and Mania have been my friends for many years. We have a familiar, dysfunctional relationship, but we always kiss and make up.

Now I have to relax and sleep for the rest of the weekend. Except Saturday. I did do a short ride today, to get my energy back up. Now it's laundry and vacuuming and napping and sinus medicine. And I Love the 80s 3D.

At least it happened now instead of in June, when my boss would be on vacation and I would have to drag myself out until I ended up in the ER.

I don't need medication, I'm not pathological. It's my normal pattern of being...no sleep. My poor, teeny-tiny niece - she's displaying the same tendencies at six months old. Well, at least she'll have someone to talk to about it.

In other news, there is no other news.

That little sleep really isn't good for you. I usually get 6 - 6.5 hrs on a week night (more on weekends) and even that supposedly isn't enough. It increases the level of cortisol in your blood stream, which supposedly increases your risk of diabetes and a lot of other things :(

Yep, I already have diabetes. But I've never been a person who can sleep for long periods of time, or at normal hours. I do best when I can get up at 7am, take naps at 10am and 5pm, then stay up until 1am.

Unfortunately, being a bum doesn't pay well. :P

It's been a life-long thing where I go through periods of worse-than-normal insomnia & high energy, then crash for a couple of days (or end up in the ER with acute dehydration/exhaustion). I just need to slow down and sleep in on the weekends. *nods*

*Snuggles* That can't be easy (hell, I know it's not - I have the same problem. Frigging neuroses). I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

I suffer from bouts of insomnia, but they usually go away after a few months. You poor thing. Is there nothing anyone can do to help you? No alternative medicine you could try?

*hugs and sings you a lullaby*

No words of wisdom, just hugs and support until you get new batteries. :-*
