I'm not going to do too much long, rambling posting about TWH, since I'm pretty much skimming the f-list myself, trying to catch up and get on solid ground before I have to go back to work tomorrow morning.

So, we have:

The Good

Meeting people is totally awesome. I can't even name them all, but I'll try. If I miss you, PLEASE do not take it personally! These are the new recruits. I think I touched base with most of the folks I already knew from before ([livejournal.com profile] longtimegone, [livejournal.com profile] eibbil_libbie, etc.).

[livejournal.com profile] thalia_chaunacy
[livejournal.com profile] annearchy
[livejournal.com profile] abigail89
[livejournal.com profile] didi75, only for a second! :(
[livejournal.com profile] sproutgirl, who is the only person in the universe who looks GORGEOUS in orange
[livejournal.com profile] truesalcove
[livejournal.com profile] mionealterego
[livejournal.com profile] notasecretagent
[livejournal.com profile] sunny1192
[livejournal.com profile] owlman
[livejournal.com profile] thetreacletart
[livejournal.com profile] junesrose
[livejournal.com profile] bookwench31
[livejournal.com profile] rebeccasama, with whom I had an awesome two+ hour conversation at the Salem Beer Works
[livejournal.com profile] fiendling, although that consisted of throwing my nametag into her face
[livejournal.com profile] kitsune13
[livejournal.com profile] katrionaa
[livejournal.com profile] unanon
[livejournal.com profile] zuzuanni
[livejournal.com profile] snapetoy, since I got her in the duelling club
[livejournal.com profile] jacyevans
[livejournal.com profile] leftsockarchive

I feel like I'm missing SO many people! I have to say, though, what was up with people putting their REAL NAMES on their badges?! How did anyone know who you were?!?!?!!? It was very disconcerting. I know I missed SO many people because it's very hard to approach someone when you have no clue who they are.

The panels and fanfic readings were great. Other than the Ron panel (which was great - [livejournal.com profile] chickadilly, it was all Ron loff!), it was all Snape, all the time. I am definitely going to submit for a roundtable at Lumos, if [livejournal.com profile] redblaze would like to help...*nudge*

I also got a *wonderful* plot bunny for a Draco/Ginny fic. I actually might even write it.

Salem is an awesome place. I hate touristy places with a passion, but Salem was great. Good mix of tourist and local.

Only being delayed 2 hours at Logan. Judging from the f-list, I had the best case scenario. Luckily, I can sleep anytime, anywhere.

The Bad

Being too shy to approach people. Some of it was the name badge thing, some of it was just not having cojones enough to walk up to them and say, "I love your stuff" or "thank you for starting Roughside". So, I missed [livejournal.com profile] gmth, [livejournal.com profile] amanuensis1 (who was probably mobbed wherever she went), and [livejournal.com profile] hermorrine. No, I don't know why I'm such a wimp when it comes to that stuff. I missed A TON of people! *cries*

Getting lost in downtown Boston, then the ghetto (you know when you've passed both MLK and Malcolm X Blvds., you're not in Kansas anymore), then being really pissed that after calling the rental company, I was less than a mile away from where I should have been (before I drove back on 1A to Logan).

Being really, REALLY drunk, drinking more, and having to ride the bus back to the Ferncroft. :-& My stomach was three times its normal size on Monday morning. Yowza.

Missing other fandom people, who I *knew* would have had the best time... :'(

The Ugly

Hurting my knee, somehow. My right VMO feels all hurty, not sure why.

Driving off the freeway trying to make the exit so I could go to sleep. It was in the middle of construction; I ended up on the wrong side of the concrete barrier. I had to do a little urban offroading. Was much less funny last night, when I couldn't even tell if I was on pavement or grass.

Reading about all of the trouble everyone seemed to have getting home. Being delayed for a few hours is nothing to having your flight cancelled and having to sleep in the terminal. *hugs all of you*

Waking up at 9 this morning and not being able to go back to sleep. Think I'll be able to manage sleep quite quickly, now.

Night, all.

Awww I liked talking with you, too. :) It was one of my WH highlights. I still haven't made my obligatory WH post because my ISP is crap. Crap I say! *kills it*

I put my real name on my nametag because no one in the fandom knows me anyway LOL And all you have to do for LJ is add the "sama." *G*

I was shy a lot, too. I did pluck up the courage to talk to a few people, though. And it was great meeting new people.

I'm sorry about your knee and all the trouble at Logan. If I had known you before I would have suggested you fly into Manchester, NH. It's a little farther, but a lot less hectic than Logan. And I hate Boston, I always get lost there. I won't drive there for anything.

Have a good night! I didn't have to go nearly as far as you did but I'm totally wiped out from the con still. And ready to plan Lumos!

I typically don't have any problem talking to people, but I find it very difficult to approach anyone who looks "busy" or otherwise engaged. Same with the fangirly stuff - I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] amanuensis1 was tired of all these strange people coming up to her (by "strange" I mean people she would never have heard of in any way, shape or form).

Now that I've heard better, I would definitely come into the Boston area via Manchester or Providence, NOT Logan.

I just had my name on my tag at Nimbus and learned real quick to put my LJ name on there too. Made things much easier.

Glad you made it home safely!

Why, thank you darlin. (Though I so would have worn the orange even if it had washed me out. Go Cannons!) I got a great pic of you, and will post it either Thur or Fri. Or e-mail it direct if you prefer. Let me know.

It was great to meet so many people that I sort of knew. And don't feel bad about being shy. I'm sure you heard about the way I timidly approached Thalia. I'm such a nerd.

Love from,
sproutgirl

Feel free to plaster my picture anywhere you'd like!

Typically I'm not so shy - I just like to approach people when they're not otherwise occupied, which it seemed like those folks were constantly busy (what am I saying? They WERE constantly busy with something-or-other) and I don't want to be a bother.

Before Lumos, I am DEFINITELY asking people to put up a picture of themselves, so I will recognize them.

At Lumos, find me and I'll drag you over to [livejournal.com profile] hermorrine. She was my roomie! If you wanted to meet her, I'd have done the intro. I wish I'd known that you did! She's an angel.

*huggles...and missing those in person hugs*

I'm such a nerd - I hate coming up on people when they're busy, which Ms V seemed to be all of the time. I shall meet her in Lumos, if you would be so kind as to make the introduction? (Meaning, you'd better be there, toots! :D)

Nerds, dorks, goobs. You're among friends!

Be there? Toots, I'm already registered and dropping hints about the time off at work :))

So consider yourself introduced. :D

Dude, color me gobsmacked, seriously. Yeah, I was busy, but I still tried to say 'Hi, how are you? Nice to meet you!' to anyone who wanted to chat. I'm really not an evil ogre, but I'm not an angel either - even if Libbie says so. She lies like a dog, you know.

And I'm already planning on Lumos, so yes, you'd better be sure to come and talk to me then! :P ;)

Uhh . . . the idea of this sort of makes me want to start reading those damn books.

I mean, I won't, but it makes me want to.

Listen to the audiobooks. Jim Dale does such a great job, and there isn't all that pesky I'm-so-embarrassed-to-be-reading-popular-books to interfere with your literary cred.

I think I'll go to Nimbus in Vegas and put my Fandom_Wank pseud on the nametag. That should get me beat up in about five minutes.

;)

I REALLY wish I could have been there. It sounds like a great time.

Oh, God, don't remind me. I've been spending the last few days leaving comments around LJ saying, "May nothing I may have said or done Sunday night ever be held against me!"

*Grin*

But hey, nice to see you - will friend and stalk mercilessly!
