Oct. 3rd, 2004 11:51 pmI am seriously jonesing for The Pumpkin, man. I blame
kaputla and her icon for this. Mmm, pumpkin donuts and chicken and noodles. :9 Only 16 more days, as the Great Pumpkin says.
I can't remember who said it (
abigail89?), but yes, the months leading up to a wedding are the most stressful times in one's life. Honeybunch and I barely see each other at this point, and when we do, we are either arguing over stupid shit or I'm screaming about the latest thing that's gotten FUBARed.
I get a message from Kathy, the woman who I'd contacted about fixing and serving our reception dinner. Never mind that I'd been emailing and calling her for the past month. I finally get the message - "No, don't think so, that's the way it is." Well, hell. I made a few other calls, no dice.
So, we're probably going to be making this one ourselves. Good thing my sister worked at the OU Inn through college; her mad banquet skillz are going to get us through this one.
Catastrophe #2: Brian, the photography student (my sister's-husband's-sister's-boyfriend) who I'd asked to take my pictures, backed out on me Thursday. Class load too overwhelming, he says. Well, double damn. But, called the daddykins and lo and behold, the former fire chief in Circleville, he takes pictures for a living now. Dad knows him and we've got the (albeit much more expensive) hookup.
Catastrophe #3 is a little more icky, and stressful. Turns out daddykins cancelled all of his credit cards and is pretty much living off what he's making working. As anyone who's paid for a wedding knows, this will not do at all. Wish he would have told me this. >:O You know, before I began putting deposits down. *sigh*
I swear I'm a angsty drama queen adrenaline junky. I was nearly off my head for about a hour (most of this came down over 24 hours), but then the adrenaline began to flow and now I'm totally in energy-efficient, uber-organized crisis mode. Things are getting done come hell or high water, and I will have this wedding one way or another. Dammit.
We've decided that we're not going to Vegas...we're going to....wait for it...Cleveland instead. Can't afford the plane tickets since we had to hire a professional photographer, so we'll wait until 2006 before we hit the strip (:> I'll just not mention Lumos to him until we get there...heh heh). Just so long as we get away from home for a while, I'm game.

But yay! Bridal shower on Saturday! Will finally get to see
hastyent, as have not seen her for many weeks. And will have yummy carrot cake and play games. Not sure about bachelorette party, may just end up going out to dinner and having a few drinks. I have pussed out mightily since my college days. :( And I can't drink since having my surgery...had some beer at
generalmanda's house, and it didn't work out so well. Ick. Boo.
Random:
When I first added Napoleon Dynamite to my interests list, there were 4 communitities and maybe 25 people. Now it's 95 and 493. That boy sure does get around. :D
Inevitably around this time of year - pre-Pumpkin Show, that is - I will buy a box of pumpkin donuts from Kroger, thinking that they will actually taste like pumpkin. They never do.
There will be no NaNoWriMo for me. It's tough enough going without the pressure to churn out tons of words in a month. Will plod along slowly, much like the tortoise.
For this, there are no words.
Much love, you all.

Date: 2004-10-04 05:01 am (UTC)I was engaged twice. The first time, we broke up 6 weeks before our wedding so, basically, I got to go through the whole stress thing twice- so I DEFINITELY know what you are going through.
Our caterers told us TWO DAYS before the wedding that too many people had RSVP'd- the space we had rented was too small and cancelled. At the last minute, we ended up getting them to cater in the church fellowship hall (had to toast with gingerale, but we were desperate) and you know what? It was wonderful. No one noticed at all. Your wedding is going to be wonderful because you are marrying the man you love. You could do it in front of a notary if you wanted- the rest is just bonus.
*hugs*

P.S. I never heard of the Circleville Pumkin Festival! OMG! Circleville is only about 80 miles from me! I am SO going!
