First off, Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] abigail89, you sweetie, you!

Second, it was ABOVE FREEZING today!  And sunny!  Glorious.  I went on a nice long run at Sharon Woods (the kids were still sledding down the big hill in back), washed my car, and shoveled the blackened crud from the carport.

Wooooooooooo.  At this point, the little things mean so much, eh?

Third, next Saturday is the Big Ride.  Not sure how to taper for a...three-hour indoor bike ride?  Should I take a complete rest day on Friday?  Hm.

Took care of my niece Natalie on Saturday evening.  She's getting to the fun stage (she just turned 3) where she can tell you what she wants/needs and is independent enough to do things like potty on her own.Read more... )

On the other hand, my second-oldest niece is moving to Italy with her family tomorrow.  The fact that she and the kids are getting out of the South thrills me to no end.  Too bad she can't get away from the military wives, but you can't get everything you wish for.

Hit the scene Saturday night to catch up with old friends and listen to some mediocre music at the local dive bar.  Good times.

Hit the pavement tonight leaving the Lodge, forgetting the physical state phases of water.  Ouchies.

Also,  REPUBLICANS!  Hold up your hands!  The trickle-down is coming, just like Mr. Reagan promised!  Keep 'em high, the money will fall from the sky, like he said.  'S right.

Okay, now that those grabby fingers are otherwise occupied, the rest of us can get to WORK and fix this shizz.

Night, all.  :)

Question:  Are there any H/Hr chats anymore?  Anywhere?  'Cause I miss those like yeah.  I'm booored and lonely.  :-(

Also, I need to practice driving a manual transmission.  My next car is probably going to be at least a standard, if not a hybrid.  Even 25 mi/gallon isn't cutting it anymore for me.  I want super-efficiency!  Maybe I should get another tuneup.  Hm.

In that vein:  AHAHAHA SUCK IT, SUBURBANITE SUV-DRIVING COMMUTERS!  Gas prices do not affect me much, as I live ~4 miles from work.  Honeybunch is feeling the pain, since he still goes on the road sometimes (mainly to the Cincinnati area), but we at least hedge our bets on as many fronts as we can.  The furthest I travel in a week is to the grocery store (say it with me: ghetto heaven).

Getting more OT:  WTF FEDERAL RESERVE!  GIVE THOSE USURERS WHAT THEY DESERVE!  Stop using tax money to prop up what's left of the housing market/stock market.

By the way, anyone having flashbacks to 1991, BCCI, and the way the economy tanked and inflation rose right before Bush I left office?  Food and gas prices shot up, banks were failing, etc.  Looks like Lil Bush is listening to his daddy.

To finish this little update, a picture.  My 2.5 year old niece is taking little-kid gymnastics.  They have a climbing wall.  Witness the power of genetics:

Guess what we're doing as soon as she's big enough to fit in a harness?  :-)

Hope you all are doing well!

I could be a very successful trust fund baby, methinks. This week off work has been great - I can't remember the last time I took a not-going-nowhere-just-hanging-out-here-at-home vacation.

It has been, in a word, nice. There was time and relaxation to write (Honeybunch makes me too anxious to allow me to write - he Does Not Approve of teh Smut - and he's here ALL THE DAMN TIME. Seriously, when I say I married a hermit, I wasn't kidding. As I don't have a laptop, I have to plan special to do any writing at all.

Anyway, yeah. The fic is written, beta'd (*smooches* to [livejournal.com profile] alissomora), corrected, and is ready for submission. I am very happy with what I did, and I hope my recipent is happy, too. Even though I've written different things, this fic was my first on many levels.

The weekend was a little up and down. First off, OSU beat Michigan, which will always start the weekend out right.

I came to a sad realization this morning: )

Birthday doings were nice - and THANK YOU to everyone who posted/commented for me today! Mal and Natalie took me out for lunch on Friday, and gave me a Cranium desk calendar and a gift card to Sephora (OMG WOOT). I bought something small - an angled eyeliner brush - but I'm amazed at how much better the brush is versus trying to use a pencil eyeliner. I made a list of things I want, although I have the feeling I'll be filling that list myself. No matter, I'm headed back tomorrow to buy a 9-color cake eyeliner palette and check out some of Too Faced's little compact eye creator kits. They are carrying Clinque and another department store brand now, too, so I might try some of their stuff to see how I like it.

Why yes, I am a Sephora whore, funny you should ask. :-P

Andy and I went out to lunch on Saturday. Funny/sad/pathetic that here in Columbus, on the weekend of the OSU/Michigan game, you can be one of a handful of tables in a popular restaurant during Saturday lunch because the game is on. We were excited; we went to Best Buy and bought a couple of movies (Zodiac and Sixteen Candles). Also, I found this for the PS2. WANT.

Today I spent the day with my family, surrounded by cake and presents - none of which were for me. :-| It was Natalie's birthday party (her birthday is the 21st). My sister made a great Sesame Street cake (100000000x better than store-bought, and she had the exact color of Sesame Street red) and Natalie got tons of toys, including a Dora the Explorer tent.

Why can't I get toys on mah birfday? :-S

Brother update )

What else? Going to the in-laws' for Thanksgiving, NOT shopping on Black Friday (whatevs, man), and chillin' in general. Sounds like a plan (that is impossible for me to follow, but it's nice to have goals ;D).
