quidditchgrrl: (Me!)

Had strange dreams last night. Dreamt that [livejournal.com profile] strangerface, [livejournal.com profile] fearthainn and [livejournal.com profile] chickadilly dropped by as they were on a road trip through my strange, 50s-esque reality. Emily was as funny and snarky as I imagine her to be in real life. Lea and Courtenay giddy and reserved, respectively. For some reason, before they arrived, Honeybunch insisted on having sex in the fountain in the center of town. Of course I wasn't saying no, but man, is that weird or what?!

We noticed the smell first off - that icky infection smell. Omar was very lethargic, not eating and had a blister on his nose. Since he has kidney problems (he ate half of an ibuprofen tablet three years ago), we didn't wait to take him to the vet. Good thing we did, since he was all messed up. Fever, pus-filled blister on his nose. His gums were blistered; when the vet pulled his lip down, blood started seeping from the gumline. *cries* Half of his tongue was burned to nothingness, no barbs or anything. At this point I'm on the edge of hysteria since I can't think of one thing he could have gotten into to make him so ill. I just thought maybe our new kitten had given him cat scratch fever or something. We still have no clue as to what he could have gotten into; our house is animal-proof as far as chemicals are concerned. No wires are exposed and Little Kitty is fine. Right now Omar is very tired and his nose is still irritated, but he's had a course of amoxicillin and is eating regular food again. Whew. It could have been much worse.

Have finally filled all the slots in my department. Woo-hoo for finally finding good employees. I'll also have three men, one of which is not white (he's from Turkey)! Woo-hoo for diversity as well! Now things can assume some sort of normalcy. But then it's onto annual reviews *shivers*

Oh, and the birthday drabble I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] redblaze is here.

That's all. Very gentle squeezes to [livejournal.com profile] nmalfoy and *hugs* to everyone else!

(I was going to post a mini-rant about working out with the gym rats, but will save it until I'm frustrated instead of happily slimming down.)

Awww, poor kitty! I wonder... could he have just bitten into the wire? Not chewed it, just taken a chomp? Likely you won't ever know but I am glad he's okay. Sick furbabies are no fun.

Thanks for the kind words. You can hug me. Doesn't hurt and shouldn't affect the alien unless you hugged me around my waist.

Thing is, Omar isn't a chewer. He's really not a normal cat.

The only thing in his environment that is unusual is the new kitten. We thought about her ear mite medicine - Omar loves to lick the dog's ears - and whether that would have been strong enough to elicit that sort of injury. We may never know. :(

*hugs to you*

Kittens are our babies. We have had many cats go in and out of our lives and they are so sweet. But cats will get into many things as they are quite curious.

*more hugs to you cuz you need them*

Poor kitty. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. It sounds a bit like electrocution to me, too, but of course I have no experience other than watching a lot of Emergency Vets on Animal Planet.

Ah Donna,

Gosh, don't you hate it when our beloved pets get sick. One of our cats has a habit of jumping up on our kitchen counters to offer his opinions of whatever it is that I am cooking.

Could it be possible that Omar nosed into a hot burner on the stove or got a noseful of steam from a boiling kettle, or even tried to lick a too hot plate of food?

Anyways, my menagerie shall send good thoughts to yours.

Small note - can't access the drabble. Sobs!

Hugs,
S

Okay, try the link now. It should work.

Omar isn't the curious type, but I can't rule out that he got somewhere he wasn't supposed to, maybe got into some hot water somewhere.

Oh, poor Omar-Kitty! It's so awful when they are sick. They are so used to being independent. They do get into the oddest things, though. You will figure it out eventually.

Amazing that he ate a pill before this. When you don't want them to eat the pill, that's what they do. Try to pill them and you wind up looking like chop meat.

I hope Omar is feeling better, D-.

Poor Kitty!!! I hope he gets well soon! Having a sick animal is like just as bad as having a sick child. I know I'd go all to pieces if one my kitties were to become that ill!! *sends good vibes to the poor baby*
