Um, yeah. Finding Nemo capped off a very busy week. Looks like you lot have been busy too.

Cannot figure out how to view the Checkmated NYE challenge fics. :(( Help!

Monday: Issued written reprimand to my problem shelver. Claims she did not know that she couldn't change her schedule at the drop of a hat. She also claimed that we are 'not a family anymore' and that she is working 'very, very hard'. Both the library manager and I couldn't believe that after tracking her over and over, day after day, this woman would still claim to be working hard. I still feel like a villian though. I'm retraining her in the areas she is not up to speed in. She's gonna have kittens when she sees her annual evaluation (I'm going to bring in all of her previous evaluations, which say the same thing I do, but only in general terms).

Wednesday: Had day off and worked on getting the Assembly's annual report ready to send out. Yep, unlike many youth groups, Rainbow is beholden to their governing body as regards membership and financials. It's ready to go out with the exception of the audit report, which no one wrote up. And we had to get the membership numbers straightened up. One of our Board members - 25, married, and pregnant - was still listed on the rolls! We had a good laugh about that.

Work has been busier than ever, despite us getting over the Christmas hump. I've hired one more shelver and the place is looking better, finally! There is a contingent of librarians who believe that I'm not doing my job because I don't spend 8 hours a day shelving - I'd rather do evaluations and work on being a supervisor rather than a glorified shelver. Bleh. :-P Note to all you librarians/aspiring librarians: the circulation staff are your friends. Respect them. They can make your life hell if they so choose.

Am trying to get the rest of my staff evaluated, which is slow going. Right now I have to flag carts - I print out the item screens for every item on the cart - for each shelver, then go out and locate each item to be sure they are being put in the correct place. Right now, my problem shelver is shelving at 92% after three years. My new shelvers are at 98% and 99%. *pulls hair* I figure I have to play bad cop for a while.

Random thoughts:

1. Caramel calcium chews are the best.
2. Colin Farrell only looks good in sex scenes. He's the epitome of eye candy, all floofy goodness. :D
3. I am down almost another size. Yes, I know, it's so hard shopping for new clothes. ;-) But it's also annoying when your old clothes simply don't fit anymore. And I'm getting used to the fact that losing weight really is a lifestyle change.
4. I have a copy of Harrison Bergeron. Let the fat hobbit love begin!

Why didn't anyone tell me Finding Nemo was a horror flick?!

LOL. Try watching the first five minutes only several times. Talk about traumatizing, you begin to realize that Disney always kills off the mothers in movies.

You know, for me it's been about stages. I began back in March, concentrating on rebuilding major muscle groups with 20 minutes of cardio work three times a week. Then I ramped up the weights, working specific areas (like my triceps) and went to 30-40 minutes of cardio. I took a spinning class once I was reasonably sure that I could do it without having a heart attack. Spinning burns about 1,000 calories an hour, and that was twice a week. I'm burning ~1,000 calories three times a week on the Arc Trainer, and easing back on the weights and concentrating on toning. That takes two hours three times a week. It's a time commitment.

I'm a firm believer in slow, even weight loss (the first place I noticed I lost weight was in my feet!) and building muscle first will help increase metabolism faster than piling on aerobics.

Right now I'm just trying to cut out a couple of foods - french fries, candy bars - and choose my foods with more thought. Not dieting at all.

It's really tough to get into the habit of working out and eating better (I have a terrible time because I eat when I'm bored), but it's worth it in how much better I feel! Good luck, J. *hugs*
