Hodge-Podge Fic Recs

When I created this journal, I intended to have NC-17 het fic recs as a regular part of my postings. Well, that seems to have gone by the wayside; chickadilly and redblaze think I ought to post recs more often.

I've been on a reading frenzy lately, averaging 100 fics a week or so. Yeah, I don't have a life. :-( And I ought to be working on my own fanfics and getting some more of my original stuff down on paper. My motivations are rather transient.

There are some slash recs here, mainly because I've been on a Snarry (and thanks, Lea, for clueing me in on exactly what that meant) kick lately and reading more good (read not focused solely on the sexual aspect) slash lately than I ever realized was out there. And as always, if you read, review!



Two by rushlight75 - Through a Shattered Mirror (Harry/Snape/Draco) and Absolution (Harry/Snape). Warnings for BDSM, violence, nonconsentual situations. Good characterization and exploration of control issues between the potions master and his least favorite student. Other than The Mirror of Maybe, these are two that I go back and reread on a regular basis. I am making my way through Gramarye slowly, so I'm sure that I'll have more to recommend as time goes on.

Sorry, Lea, I don't have any H/D or H/R to recommend as yet, but please, feel free to rec me to the really good stuff, like Malfoy, P.I.

On to het recs, of various ships. I do tend to read anything and everything, so it's kind of a hodgepodge list..

Cleverness has Nothing to do with Love by shellyk. Great R/Hr story, one of my first introductions to Ron as a seductive character. Lots of humor in the mix as well. I reread this when I'm in the mood for some fluffy angsty stuff.

Stories by RedBlaze. The Trio become War Mages. Action, plot, smut, angst, sexy!Ron - what more can you ask for in the 'traditional' pairings of R/Hr and H/G? sunshyndaisies has written several outtakes in Kele's universe, as well as her own.

Hello, Pussycat by theelderwyrm. Ever wonder about the tail Hermione sprouted in second year? Ron sure does.

Draco/Ginny: I've recommended other D/G stories in the past.

Stories by fearthainn. I'm sure Fear's really sick of my incessant fangirling, but her stories really are the best out there. You want redeemed Draco? You think he can't be redeemed? Right this way.

Stories by Opague. A lot of people squick on cutting, but these are written by someone who used to do it, and the pain comes right through. It's dark stuff, true enough.

General and miscellanous recs (again, NC-17, various pairings, mainly het):

RavenclawGrrl, who doesn't have an LJ as yet, writes wonderful smut at the Gryffindor Groupies and adultfanfiction.net. Every time she writes, I just have this urge to jump up and extend her universe. Her Sirius/Tonks has given me yet another plot bunny hopping through my brain.

Almost Perfect by Augustus. Harry. Draco. Ginny. Polyjuice. Dark and sinister.

The Substitute by coldcoffeeeyes. Dude, Steve Irwin comes to Hogwarts! And yes, she'll make you believe it's true.



I really admire mark356 for putting his rec posts together; they do take up a bit of time and energy.

In other news, have been sick with some sort of cold/strep infection. Most likely this is from being in contact with so many people at the library. Germs, ick. And I don't have a day off until Wednesday, so it'll be here until I can spend a full day in bed. Just call me Typhoid Mary.
