Can I say, Welcome Back, America!  The land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE!

We do not torture, we know the meaning of hard work, and we understand that with great power comes great responsibility.

Out with the Decider, in with the Commander!  Ah, semantics makes all the difference.

I forgot to get my free abortion donut!  Someone have two for me, eh?

The Governor (who I liked a LOT more before I started working for him) has proposed the following to the collective bargaining unit (which I'm not a part of, but they treat all state employees as equal under CB):

--5% pay cut to all employes (YEAH RIGHT.  Let's start that at the $85K+ level and go UP, shall we?  Instead of kicking it to the gals with three kids making $25K working the counters at the unemployment offices)
--Full time hours cut to 35/week (on top of the pay cut)
--No paid holidays
--Increase in employee costs for benefits

I know that I am *very* spoiled vis a vis those of you out there who've lost or who are fighting for your jobs...but *meeble*.  I also know that even if all three of those things come to pass, I will be okay...but there are folks who will not be.  Let's hope for a compromise of only half of those things coming to pass.

Have been reading Outliers:The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell.  Doesn't really tell one anything they don't already know (that there are no self-made people out there - no, not even YOU), but it's a great study in demographics.  Also explains why I'm not a) a famous author, or b) a concert French Hornist.

Also, I have tickets to see Morrissey in April!  *cutz*

Am super-tired, overtrained, and ready for a good dose of Persuasion and bed.

You work for the state of Ohio these days? Ouch. As a Wisconsin state employee, I'm sort of expecting something similar to happen here :(

There's only one Krispie Kreme in Vancouver, but if I had a choice, I'd have chosen to leave work early and choose my choice of doughnut.

I hope the governor is putting all this out there, thinking he'll get two out of the four.
