So, there's like a meme of sorts going around?  Like things that are making you happy?

I like this meme, I think I shall participate!

--I'm going to see Eagles of Death Metal tomorrow night.  Paid $5 (well, $7.45 with the ass-raping Ticketmaster tacks on).  Small venue.  Tall, redheaded lead singer.  I...need a minute or I might pee myself.

--Toying with the idea of going to Chicago on St. Patty's Day to see Flogging Molly in concert.  Small glitch:  no vacation time.  The back and forth has been
Facebook message from B:  OMG OMG OMG COME TO CHICAGO FLOGGING MOLLY ST PATTYS DAY!

Me:  OMG OMG OMG...oh, crap, St. Patty's Day is on a Tuesday and I have no vacation time *cries*

B:  YOU NEED TO GET YOUR PRIORITIES IN ORDER!  QUIT YOUR JOB AND GET TICKETS!

Other friends:  YEAH!

Me:  *sobs quietly as friends make plans without me*

My friends, I love them.

--I slept most of the weekend, and caught up on my sleep debt!  I feel so much better now.  :)

--While searching for a survey I needed to complete, I found a $10 coupon for DSW!  And I have a $30 gift card from my birthday!  Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me...oh, what?  Okay, shutting up now.

--Before Thanksgiving, one of the local newspapers ran a contest for the worst Thanksgiving dish, with the winner receiving a free dinner for 4 from a local gourmet shop.  Guess what?  I won!  Ugh! Disgusting! Oyster "dressing" - canned oysters, saltine crackers, cream and butter. There is no way really to describe the salty, greasy, slimy way this tastes. The crackers absorb the butter and cream and it all congeals, leaving the oysters to float around unmoored. My father in law makes this dish every Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, and the rest of my husband's family thinks it's the best. They can't figure out why I don't want seconds or thirds of something that, quite frankly, looks like baby vomit. I manage to down a spoonful or two, to make them happy, but holy god, is it hard!

We ended up with enough food for 16, so I called my friend Melissa (who is all of 23 soaking wet and struggling to make ends meet working as a retail shift manager.  Send good karma her way, eh?) and unloaded most of it to her.

--A couple of my former co-workers and I will be heading up north for a small-town Christmas tour, and lunch at a parental home.  Should be quite fun.  I love small towns, so long as I don't have to interact with the general populace or get out of the car.

--I've been able to make the effort to get on here and post, hooray!

Hope you all are staying warm (I know I'm not)!

I hate to say this but that oyster dressing is a favorite of my dear departed grandpa.

You should plan to come to Detroit the weekend before St. Patty's day for the Parade. We have a late brunch at my brother's place and then watch the parade from the front steps as it stages in front of the house.

Eagles of death metal are great!!! Josh Homme is married to Brody Daly who I really wanted to be when I was in high school. OOh and Josh super hot too.

Also, Flogging Molly live is theeeeeee greatest!!! And on St. Patty's!? I'd love to see that. I saw them a few years ago in Philly and it was a blast! I bet seeing Flogging Molly on St. Patty's is as great as seeing the Dropkick Murphys in their hometown of Boston (which was pretty rad).
