*rubs wrists* You know, I need to schedule time to read the flist - catching up on nearly 3 weeks of posts is way too much to attempt in one sitting.
But, uh, hey - how YOU doin'?
As this is my birthday month (yeah, 'round these parts, we have bday months), I've been out with various groups of friends and family, getting the Temple ready for the winter season, getting the house ready for winter (brrrr), working, working out, racing and sleeping.
Jewelry party was a success - and that's half of my Christmas shopping done.
Let's see...Halloween is always meh for me - I don't like to do the makeup/dress up thing, so parties are kind of out for me. This year, though, was a new gathering in the Short North (just north of Cbus' downtown, for the out-of-towners) called High Ball. OMG. Awesome, well-organized, with two stages, drinks, drag show (ever seen drag queens do back flips??), costume contest, etc. etc. There were some original costumes, and the requisite 1000 Sarah Palin clones.
Seriously? Make a Facebook and look at my pics. Totally rocked! Hopefully next year will be even better. Maybe I'll volunteer.
Dead Celebrity 5K - next time I race with my sister, I'm going Tonya Harding on her right before it starts. She came in first, me second, damn and blast! However, the receipt of a $200 spa package eased the sting of the loss. *happy dance*
The election? Those computers CNN had? WANT. It was cool to hear Republicans finally come back to life and congratulate and be happy for the first black president. OhpleaseohpleaseletHillarybesecretaryofstate
The Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State managed to get an exhibit of Andy Warhol works - Other Voices, Other Rooms - and they hosted a "Factory Party," complete with Warhol-inspired drinks and a photo booth. I got my glam on and dressed up in Edie Sedgwick style, complete with beauty mark. Rjd2 did a DJ set - yeah, I'm hot for him, I'm not gonna lie - and we danced like it was 1977. Non-Facebook pictures of me and my friend Astrid can be found here.
In true keeping with my race tradition (get up half-hung-over, dehydrated, and exhausted), I plucked myself up and ran the Buckeye Classic 10K, by far my most challenging course yet - running trails at Highbanks is not for wimps! I've been doing them twice a month through the summer, which made it all the more miserable knowing what was coming over each hill! Effing cold too - temp at race time was a lively 29*. *BRRRRRR*
Came in third, goddammit!
Last week has been joining friends for birthday Fight Clubbing (yeah, don't ask), catching the new James Bond movie (I *love* Daniel Craig as 007), getting lovely gifts and even better love, and yesterday - Nine Inch Nails.
Being within spitting distance of Trent Reznor? That, my friends, is the very definition of a happy birthday. :)
My job is still making me happy, I'm slowly but surely digging my way out of debt, I cannot WAIT to get to Baltimore to see
salemdipity and
zsazsa101, then NYC and Equus!
Journal comments will come along, as I get through the flist...I do think of you all every day though...truly! Especially when I'm at work and itching to check in, knowing that I can't. :-P
