*brushes off cobwebs*
Oct. 15th, 2008 09:41 pmHowdee-ho! *looks around* How you doin'?
Me, I'm fine. :-)
Um, where have I been? Out? Around?
It's a little scary how much better I've felt, mood-wise, since I've started my new job. I feel like my old self, my younger self, only much better and much wiser. Every day, I wake up and feel like I want to get out there and meet the day, to fill it up with things that make me happy. Whether it be helping an owner figure out the steps to clean up their site (I work for what boils down to state-run insurance for gasoline storage tanks underground), hitting concerts around town with friends, or just having a nice, long run alone - it all feels right.
To wit:
1. Met up with
stinaleigh when she was in town and had lunch and chatting (and a second-hand glomp from
eibbil_libbie) at a second-rate alehouse. First-rate company totally made up for that, though!
2. Concerts.
Bruce Springsteen did a short acoustic set on the Oval at OSU. He rocked it out, playing folk favorites and generally being "The Boss." John Glenn spoke, too - looking damn good for his age.
Tegan and Sara/DCFC - I never had a crush on Ben Gibbard before, but I do now (the sideburns, however, gotta go). My crush on Tegan and Sara (so twee!) continues unabated.
The Black Keys - they get such guff around here because they're Akron-proud, but DAMN, do they put on an awesome show. I nearly got my block knocked off by a bunch of frat boys. They were trying to punch a girl in the head (oh HELL to the NAW you didn't!) and I told them I'd punch THEM if they even tried it...um, I need to remember that I don't have the same bulk to back me up that I once did. :-P Got some good frottage throughout the show, which made up for that little incident. Heh.
The Whigs/Kooks - I will never understand people who move up front, then expect there to be personal space. Ah, college freshmen at their first show! Luke Pritchard was channeling his Jim Morrison, and finally got the crowd into it by walking on our hands. Also, I am a big dork.
Why yes, I have sold my soul to rock 'n' roll...upcoming is Shiny Toy Guns, Smashing Pumpkins (dammit, I'm going to this show!), and Nine Inch Nails.
Again, if I ever complain about being broke, you all have the authority to slap the taste out my mouth.
3. I've been running short (<10K) races, collecting race t-shirts, and generally annoying my sister with constant requests for her to join me. She is running the Columbus Half-Marathon this weekend, and I'm going to cheer her on. (No way, no how am I doing that again!) My daily runs have increased my speed nicely, and I'm hoping to set a PR at the Dead Celebrity 5K on November 1st. IF I can get my achilles healed up before then - I think I've ruptured it. Hurts like a bad, bad thing.
4. Have been making plans to head to NYC for Equus with
asplashofink and
zsazsa101. I'm trying not to think about naked!Dan...and failing miserably.
5. Other than that...I'm hosting a Premier Designs Jewelry Party to help a friend get started selling on the 29th, I've been tooling around the local art museum, meeting up with old friends from high school, spending Friday nights with the drag queens at Axis, and otherwise keeping busy.
Even with all of this mania, I still manage to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and am adding new things to my workout agenda.
I'm tired, but happy. :-)
This all leaves me very little time to spend on the internets, sadly, other than to upload pics to Facebook and do the random friendslist check a couple times a week.
I miss it. :-\
So, update me - que pasa? What's new and lovely in your life?

Date: 2008-10-16 02:27 am (UTC)O HAI THERE.
New and lovely? Not so much. But hey, life is not being overly dramatic, and that's worth something!

Date: 2008-10-16 02:40 am (UTC)The "Dead Celebrity 5K" sounds fun!
If you can't get your sister to join you for something and want a partner (And don't mind waiting around at the finish line forever), maybe we could meet up for a run sometime? I'm not that far away.
Glad to hear that you have been doing well while away!
