Those of you who requested pik-churs from the fair, I have a gallery up here for you to take a gander at.

Two things I could not locate (woe!):  those yard-long skinny refillable drinks (they don't sell them anymore?!?!?!) and a place that sells the huge pork tenderloin sandwiches.  Even the Pork Producers building didn't have them.

I did have at least a couple bites of the following:
Elephant ear (the girl flipped out when I bent the thing into 4 quarters and threw 3/4 of it away, as though not eating an acre of fried dough meant kids in Asia were going hungry, lol)
Fried balogna, but it was barely thawed out, thus not well "fried"
French fries
Roast corn
Corn dog
Steak on a stick

It was hotter than hell's half acre out there, but it was fun to walk around and people-watch, look at the vendors, etc.

I hope it cools off soon, so I can drive to the store without needing a towel to dry off everything but my left arm.  :-)

Wow! Fried bologna sandwich! I have had one of those in years. I introduced HeadBoy to them in college, and he improved on it by adding a fried egg and a slice of Velveeta. Ooo! The Cholesterol Special, but yummy.

I'm about ready to melt here, too. Not here here in the archives--god, no. I'm freezing my arse off. It's bad in WNC.

Hee. How much longer does the fair run?

I probably need to grab Jim and make him go with me this weekend...I will need to take up the weight-loss plan again, and in earnest...I apparently now have a fatty liver, ick, and really need to lose weight...again!

So I should taste the funnel cakes while I can.

Hmmmm

Mmmmmm Roasted corn! I thought that was a CA thing. I'm glad that you had a nice time and didn't expire from the heat.

Butter cow! :D

Thanks so much. Now I just have to make it down to the county fair for some fried dough of my own to make the summer complete.

I got behind on friendslist, so did not read in time to ask for the butter cow, and yet you brought it to me. Yay!

Hee! It sounds like you had a great time! YAY! Fried bologna. Just. no. I can't handle regular bologna.

Steak on a stick. Give me steak on a stick marinated in teriyaki or curry sauce and we are good to go! Y/Y?

No pork tenderloin sandwiches? FOR SHAME!

Do you guys have Spiedies? I'm thinking you might. It's like the biggie food from my area. I haven't been to a fair or carnival yet this summer, so I haven't had any yet. Need to make some soon.

We are melting in the sun in upstate NY as well.

Ahhhhh, the pigs.

My fondest memory of going to the Ohio State Fair every year was riding the gondola things . . . the Skyride? . . . and listening to my mom worry every time that one of her flip-flops would fall off halfway across the line. And then one year, it happened.

So that's what makes the holes in swiss cheese?
