quidditchgrrl: (Snape is Innocent!)

Holy mother of...it's only THURSDAY.

I don't know if this is good or bad, it just is.

Tomorrow at work is going to be EFFING INSANE. We're doing this all day/all night Harry Potter thing and we're going to be open from 9am until 1am Saturday morning. The NEWS was here today; hopefully they didn't broadcast anything. In the last two weeks, we "sorted" 1200 people. So, potentially, that's 1200 people who know about this, plus allll the publicity, the local press, etc.

So, yeah. Potentially not pretty. Everything looks awesome, though. Maybe I'll take pictures tomorrow before we open.

It's strangely annoying to have Harry Potter invade my "real" life - everybody wants to talk about it, and most people are...not in fandom, shall we say? They've never discussed the finer points of Snape's attractiveness vis Alan Rickman's portrayal or the Dumbledore-as-Ron theory. Many of them consider The Leaky Cauldron (or Merlin forbid Mugglenet) the be-all, end-all of fandom information.

I'm being snotty, aren't I? I have no sentimentality about The End Of Fandom, either. We stay, we go - fandom became more about relationships than Harry for me a while ago. :)

Ahahaha, Harry Potter and the Endless Buildup. Yes, even the Daily Show is in on this. Sigh.

I'm not gonna be offline, haven't been spoiled yet, not worried. Going to Kroger at midnight like I did for HBP, grab some string cheese, pop and a copy of the book.

*hugs you all, just 'cause*

(((hugs back)))

I gotta thank Harry for some of the other-than-fandom friends I've made. :)

Meh. Yes. I started discussing it with another student who is writing her thesis on children's fantasy books and we didn't get much farther than her going "I don't think Snape's a bad guy." Well, yeah, we've been there and done that for a while now. Still, better than that other student who stepped into our discussion.

"Oooh, Harry Potter? My favourite book is the one with the socks!"

*puzzled looks from us* Me: "Errr, the fourth one? With the house elf."

Her: "You know, the one where they go into this small village around christmastime and they sell socks that scream when they start stinking!"

Oooookay. *cross-eyed look*

I know how you feel. I have a checklist of things I have to do at work this morning in order for the peeps to be prepared tonight. My body hurts and I've only worked the past two days - I have four more before I even get a day to myself to recover. At this point, I really just want it all to be well over and done.

Not really *in* fandom, for which I'm grateful, although I am glad of the virtual friends I've made. I'll be avoiding the crush at the bookstores and getting my copy after work tomorrow. I'll get to reading it after I finish The New Moon's Arms. It's not a priority...

My sister has cancelled all of her plans for the entire weekend...even though I'll be visiting from out of town.

She has called it "prioritizing" and says mine are out of wack. And I quote from our HBP fight: (8 am ring) "Why aren't you still up reading? What's wrong with you? You're no fan at all! Read faster!"
