Today, thecockpit voice recorder transcript was released for Comair 5191 (theplane that took off from the wrong runway in Kentucky and crashed), andwhat do I do? Oh, read it. Fine.
Then what do I do? Start reading the comments on Fark. Someone posts a link to last words heard on the CVRs/air traffic tapes.
Now you know what I've been doing for the past hour.
I notice thatmost, if not all, of the transcripts have the crew in conversation,clearly not in the "sterile cockpit" that the FAA says should exist.
The saddest oneis where the First Officer deployed the spoilers (they...stop theplane? flaps that stop the plane) accidentally, and he keeps saying,"sorry Pete". You can read what all happened here.
And there's a reason why I don't unbuckle my seatbelt!
