Wow, having to watch the entire first season of Lost in three days is like having a second job. I now have season 2, AND AND AND a copy of The Cutting Edge (damn E!'s "101 Guiltiest Pleasures" and
writergirlie for the toepick reference)!
Speaking of second jobs, I got one!
I'd contacted the manager of the local Masonic Temple to ask if they needed someone to clean the building, since they'd been looking for and using people on a temporary basis. He told me to write up a proposal and he'd be in touch.
Well, he called me back with an offer: If I had the time, I could be the temple manager. In addition to cleaning, the TM is in charge of keys, lease agreements, security alarms, building maintenance, and various other stuff that might come up.
I talked to the Temple Operating Board on Tuesday, and they were happy with the plans and ideas I came up with - one of the duties of this job is to "promote" the Temple and try to break even for bills, etc.
The current TM called today to say the job is mine! Yay! I'll start at the beginning of October.
We really, REALLY need this money (and let me tell you, it's nothing to sneeze at). I could just cry with joy.
Maybe I'll just do that, for the heck of it.
Also, is this not the face of PURE EVIL:

Yep, 100% evil

Date: 2006-09-08 04:24 am (UTC)Are you renting it out for, like, wedding receptions and whatnot? if they don't have a brochure or other advertising media, that'd be good to whip up. Does the Lodge have a website? that's also useful for promoting the building... lots of people found the SR temple I used to work at because of the web.

Date: 2006-09-08 04:33 am (UTC)Hopefully we can get the okay to use the Lodge room for actual weddings (found out accidentally that I didn't have a dispensation for my wedding...). We have a website, online meeting requests, etc.
I think, being younger and female, it'll be a little easier to find people to use the space on the weekends, etc. and hopefully find one or two groups that might want to use it during the weekdays, too.
Plus, I'll get a cut of whatever I bring in...double w00t!
