Woah. I mean, he does crazy stuff, so I suppose no one should be surprised that he was killed by an animal, but... woah. I'll be annoyed if it's a sick joke...

There are a couple more news stories about it on Yahoo!News but there aren't many details. Bananas.

OMFG!

He was one of those dudes that you figured would die of some human disease - Not be killed by nature. Just cuz he did such bizarre things.

I feel so sorry for his wife and kid.

It just seems so odd that he would go like this. With all of the dangerous animals he encountered so closely, a stingray?

You know what's ironic? He loved that stingray. Like he loved nature, and all of those animals he taught us so much about.

Right? Well, I guess the stingray didn't love him back all that much. :(

Dude showed us a lot in an up close an personal way about animals.

Is it sad that the first place I went was Wiki for confirmation?

Nah - The mods there are pretty anal retentive. They would be all over it if it were a hoax. I'm just surprised at how fast they are.

Internet journalism scares me sometimes. o_0

You're the thrid person (in as many posts) to post about it on my flist.

It's ... pretty shocking. I mean he did some crazy stuff but I never thought this would happen. I feel bad for his family. I guess he has some small kids - so sad. :(

I'm sad to see him go. But you know, he died doing something he loved -- making a nature documentary. IMO that's more fitting than him being run over by a car or choking on a hamburger.

Yep, it's true. We've just heard here -- he died about 4 hours ago in Port Douglas. It's all over our news :( I didn't like him personally, but I'm still shocked to hear it.

He's rather a legend here, but I really feel awful for his wife and kids. It's too bad.
