Ah, nice long day off to relax. Slept in. Took kiddie aspirin for sinuses the SIZE OF THE SUN. Took bus through the worst area of the entire city, for real to Lennox and met The Fabulous Nancy (aka [livejournal.com profile] midnightcircle) for dinner and a movie.

I have to say that The Fabulous Nancy is a super conversationalist; one-on-one interactions can leave me feeling a bit awkward, but Nancy is easy to talk to. :)

We saw

As jaded as I am about certain aspects of September 11, this movie was very moving in its simplicity and scope. Everyone got equal time, I thought - the passengers, the hijackers, the military, the air traffic controllers. A lot of the people who were involved with the military and transportation departments played themselves in the movie, which was cool.

The very end of the credits stated that United Airlines did not sponsor or endorse the film. Strange.

I'm sad that we're not using our resources to find bin Laden and avenge these people's deaths.

I don't think I'll have any trouble sleeping tonight.

Yes. That's basically what I'm devoting my creative life to right now (book-wise). The way that the administration channeled this nation's anger/sadness/confusion/need-for-leadership into the shit mess that we're in now makes me physically nauseous.

I'm glad you found the movie ok. I haven't seen it, but I would hate for it to be in poor taste.

It was very well-done. No excess dramatic stuff thrown in for gratuitous effect.

There were people who left the theatre completely dry-eyed, which floored me. Maybe, for them, this was something that happened on TV, or it was outside of their consciousness.

I'm hoping there will be some leadership for the country in 2009. :\

Word. Every time I hear that Bush clip about how he "doesn't really think about Bin Laden" I want to scream. ARRRRRGGGGH. That's who you SHOULD'VE been thinking of, Dumbya, instead of Saddam, who had nothing to do with 9/11. *headdesk*

I consider these two things separate, although the administration tried to combine them into one thing.

Dubya needs bin Laden as the foil, and Saddam is his evil villain to Dubya's caped crusader.

He doesn't think about bin Laden because he is a non-factor when it comes to his goal for world domination the Middle East. Well, if there was an actual goal.

*sigh*

Thanks for the lovely compliment, darlin'.

I had a lovely time with you as well. Dinner was good, the movie was good, the company was great!!!

Wow, it's late, I'm gonna go to bed, I think.
