I should have worn a sign to today's Rainbow reception that said, "I was burnt out and needed a break. That's ALL." Possibly I should have made a blanket announcement on the website as well. Yeesh! The gossip-mongers went home disappointed, I'm sure.

It was much fun, however. I'm mentally tired but glad I went - I doled out punch and compliments for the most part.

Other randomosity:

See? You CAN have rational, well-thought out dialogue about abortion. Then again, most of the people reading my journal aren't wanktards, so I'm not surprised.

Watched Domino last night. Pretty good - I'd forgotten how much I like Mickey Rourke. He's kind of in the same class as Gary Busey, only without the empty-sober face and botox. I'm becoming less of a Keira Knightley fan, however, even though she did a good job here.

How pathetic is my love of this picture? Yes, I think pasty man-legs are sexy. Shoot me (please).

Hope you all are having great weekends catching up on life (or, in my case, the second season of MI-5)!

Oh those legs are just like my husbands all pasty and skinny. Its all good in my books.
MI-5 I think that was called Spooks here if I remember rightly that is. But that is a great show. I have only seen half way through the 3rd season. But what I have seen was just so enjoyable. Have fun with that.
See? You CAN have rational, well-thought out dialogue about abortion. Then again, most of the people reading my journal aren't wanktards, so I'm not surprised. I am have been following what has been happening in the your country in regards to abortion with an absolute baited breath. Its facinating to see the political and legal system trying to change this. But it also scares the crap out of me. I just keep saying to my self that the posistion that we are in is a cyclical one. That society will change its mind and the conservative minds that have so much control over society will disappear. For me its been Ten Years with the same conservative government that have basically descimated the sense of community society had. That our social services are in near ruins, public hospitals are crumbling, free education for all is just a memory (we had free university here untill the late 80's.) and genrally the government looked after the peoples ammenities. In return we paid our taxes (I would say that they were a lot higher then yours.) But we had those service's that were ours as a whole. But that is no longer, and economical rationalism has been a worrying trend for the last 20 years. But anyway I am going the long way around about saying that the government is interfering in things that is shouldn't and that it should be trying to fix more important issues. Like instead of us all fighting a war on terror, how about fighting causes of extreme poverty. I think this would go along way to us winning the war on terror, these people (I know not all of them.) see us Westerners with all of our materialistic things and these people don't even have plumbing, electricity, running water, health care or even education. If they put they focused there minds on issues like abortions and weather a women has the right to control her own body. Then we would be a step in the right direction. Sorry about the rant, I just get so angry about these things and I just see a comman thread throught all these issues. Its about power and who has the power, and I am what you would call pro choice. But even if I wasn't what right does a man in some court room to say what a women can or can not do with her body. I would like to see him and many men deal with being pregnant.
I am going to apologies again for this absolute non sensical rant. I had a rather large night last night and didn't get home till about 8 or 9 in the morning. I was how shall I say it, drunk as a skunk. I got up about 3 hours ago I am still drunk. I get rather ranty whilst drunk and I guess my beliefs come out for everyone to see. Between this and the discussion I had about the state of The US health Care system, I have done my fair share of ranting. It all makes sense in the brain, but am never sure if it comes out on the page. So I will leave you be, have a good night with MI-5. Take Care Jade
PS sorry for the spelling mistakes, shoddy grammer, and just plain bad pissed talk I was going to delete it as I am sure it doesn't make sense cause its getting hard to read things. I should perhaps put my glasses on.

*nods* Yes, MI-5 is the American title for Spooks. The word "spook" has a rather nasty connotation here, hence the renaming. Matthew Macfayden is quite yummy.

I am sincerely hoping that the political tides are beginning to turn here, for all our sakes. Problem is that the extremists on both sides are screaming over the rest of us.

The movie Syriana did a great job of delinating how the Western world uses the Second- and Third-World for their own financial gains and excesses.

Right now I volunteer with a group that helps working people find access to free health care and social services. It is practically impossible to make a "decent" living any more, where you have a job that pays enough to cover rent, food, and utilities, never mind health care. People this winter were leaving their ovens open to heat their homes in order to save money. And ExxonMobile just posted an $11bn profit. It's sick-making.

It's sick-making.
Tell me about it, the money that these multi-national corporation's make could assist so many people in so many different ways. I think the statistics are that 5% of the worlds population own about 90% of the wealth. I haven't seen that movie yet but I have seen many documentaries on similar issues before. Unfortunately its nothing new and I am sure it will be done over and over again until we basically make greed Illegal. I can only hazard a guess, but I am sure every large corporation has secret about exploiting a situation for there own benefit.
Its the nature of the beast whether it be nestle promoting that there bottled milk formula is better then breast milk in 3rd world nations in Africa. To the corporation that owns KFC and Pizza Hut also sells arms to African countries. Wherever there is desperation, there will be exploitation. Unfortunately it appears to be in some people nature.
That's I am sure is enough of a drunken rant for you.
Cheers Jade
