Since I used this to answer [livejournal.com profile] lissinthecity's request for favorite HP fanfics, I might as well post it up here. And since I've been up since 3:45 worrying about my endoscopy, I figured it would use up some time and stomach acid energy, and it has (two hours and seven minutes, gulp).

Here's a list of the ten fics I come back to over and over again, in no particular order:

1. Dark Directed and The Past Didn't Go Anywhere by [livejournal.com profile] fearthainn. Best redeemed Draco, ever, in DD.

2. Roman Holiday, Jewel of the Nile, Last Tango in Paris; also the Harry/Trelawney outtake All That Glitters by [livejournal.com profile] coldcoffeeeyes

3. Through a Shattered Mirror by [livejournal.com profile] rushlight75

4. What are Friends For? Part 1 and Part 2 by [livejournal.com profile] ravenclawgrrl. Harry/Tonks, yum!

5. Several of [livejournal.com profile] lissinthecity's shorts, including It's the End of the World as We Know It, Requiem, and Absolution. Read 'em all the time.

6. Cleverness Has Nothing to Do With Love by [livejournal.com profile] shellyk

7. Control by [livejournal.com profile] capitalslash (Percy/Fred/George, warnings of non-con, violence, and incest). Not everyone's idea of good fic, but it works in its context. You prefer the violence. The identical fists raining down on you, the kicking and the sensation of a knee in your groin. You can shut your mind off from that, disconnect, let the passing of time fade until you are left alone afterwards with aching joints, feeling numb inside. Yes, you prefer the violence.

8. Pretty From Behind by [livejournal.com profile] jlh

9. Moving Pictures by [livejournal.com profile] coldcoffeeeyes

10. The Fire and the Rose and Fire and the Rose Part II, by Abby and Domina on Witchfics

Just wanted to check in and let you all know what's happening. Thanks to all of you who wished me luck and have listened to my wibbling for the past few months.

I'm not crazy. )

Randomness:

Nails are a pretty shade of purple, as part of my early-morning boredom kill.

[livejournal.com profile] muffinbutt and [livejournal.com profile] malachan are just too sickeningly cute. :-P

Has anyone else read Passing for Thin by Frances Kuffel? I started it this morning, and I don't know what to make of it. Just wanted your thoughts.

LJ friend for the day, just randomly: [livejournal.com profile] shellyk

This woman has been putting up with the boss from hell in her quest to become a lawyer. She's a much better person that I, because I'd no doubt have punched Umbitch out long ago. She's also a great writer - her Cleverness Has Nothing to Do With Love was one of the first fanfics I followed religiously on ffnet, and one of the first fandom folks I knew. I have a great amount of respect for her, she's wise beyond her years.

Thanks to those of you who introduced yourselves in my recent post. I'll respond to them soon, and anyone else? Please, please give me a couple of lines about yourself. It's great to read about other people, their fandom histories, and their lives.
