Dear Residents of Ohio:

Please learn to drive. Thanks.

No love,
PBG

Went to visit [livejournal.com profile] rlanto and have some hibachi and conversation. Met the Nazgul and managed to be civil. Did Half Price Books (got HPSS on tape for dad!) and Borders, then

I was very impressed with this, in a scary sort of way. I grew up in an area where the White Power belief system is strong, and I saw a lot of acquaintances in the characters. Unexpected ending. Disconcerting level of arousal regarding Edward Norton sporting WP tattoos.

Then the drive home was sheer.hell. Or should I say sleet hell? 675 was a little slick, did well on 70 until we hit the construction. Then everything was A SOLID SHEET OF ICE. No, really. We were going 10 miles an hour, and I couldn't hit my accelerator pedal without sliding. 70 West had been shut down by the truckers - they staggered throughout the lanes and just parked. The semis going East paced us by driving down the center of the highway, and even they jackknifed a couple of times :O It wasn't scary, just boring as HELL and I was afraid I'd end up in the ditch, unconscious, with the radio tuned to WNCI.

So, in Columbus the roads are better, but the drivers were acting as if this were Georgia or something. Grr. My place is between two interstate overpasses. I get off at Cleveland Avenue; the bridge over 270 is closed because people can't freaking drive of an accident. So I turn around and take 71 to 161 and go up Busch Blvd. Oh no - the bridge over 71 is iced over.

You can imagine, I was ready to frelling WALK the 1/2 mile home. I changed my mind, however, when I got out of the car to ask if Karl Road was still open and nearly busted my tush. Karl Road was open, so I backtracked down 161 and FINALLY made it home. Toughest part of the trip? Trying to get up the hill into my complex (trying to make a turn onto an incline from a 45mph arterial road can be a pain in bad weather).

But I am home, in one piece.

Jingle Bell Run is in the morning, and I have to be downtown with the girls at 7:25am. *dies*

Disconcerting level of arousal regarding Edward Norton sporting WP tattoos. Amen, Sister Friend. Holy Hell. Am watching Red Dragon and EN in unnecessarily tight jeans makes this girl have happy dreams. Whee.
