quidditchgrrl: (Are you new?)

Dear beloved fandom,

Grow up.

Thank you, and I'll still love you in the morning,
PBG

[livejournal.com profile] andarta_w has posted a very well-thought-out take on this here.  And [livejournal.com profile] longtimegone has given her typically direct statement here.

As a multi-shipper, I've never been able to understand the fuss over one ship versus another.  People like what they like, life moves on.

I'm just going to do my best to remain neutral.  Feel free to buzz me if you want to rant/bitch/moan/complain, I am always a sympathetic ear, and I don't wank in public.  :>

This is so insane! Everywhere I look there's wank! I just feel so badly for JKR. These people are an embarrassment!

Thanks for those two links. ::Sigh:: Remember the days when we had to seek out the wank for entertainment? Now I am pining for some normalicy around here.

The sooner everything gets back to normal, the better. Me? I'm just going on with my writing as always :D Besides, we have a movie in the next couple of months!

Yes, yes we do!

Are you still going to be in Pittsburgh for the GoF premiere? Because I so need a reason to get back over there this fall. :) If not, or you'd rather it be a quiet thing with you and Melissa, I won't be offended!

Yep, I'll be in Pittsburgh for GoF! Unless something major happens, but I shouldn't imagine so. You're more than welcome to come visit! :D

I love the way JK.Rowling has written her characters, and the way she throws a curve ball plot, just when you think that it will be a straight ball.

Ha! I think it's pretty funny to tell you the truth. Sorry, but I just find the people who are blazing new trails of idiocy all over the internet crying about an author daring to write a book as she sees fit hysterical.

Ya know what I find even funnier? People who misinterpreted all of the clues in canon and are now blaming the author and lashing out at the people who got it right. So, yeah, I'm laughing my head off at them. I've been saying for years that H/G was gonna happen, and I've been listening to retching noises as a literary response.

So, yeah, I'm having a pretty good time right now. I'm liking the color pink a lot these days. It seems to induce more retching.

That's the shipping part of it. My thoughts are generally on the larger part of the book. Which is to say any part of the book but Harry's nads.

Gee...thanks for the nod...and thanks for the chat last night. It made me feel much better about things in general.

*hugs*

I'm certainly not singling out H/Hr shippers on this one. The gloating from the H/G side has me retching, too. Especially when they've been taking shots at people who *never* argued the potential of H/G in canon.

They've gotten their canon mixed up with their fanon, too.

Aaaand, the Remus/Tonks folks - people who wrote it before HBP - telling people who are looking to write R/T that they are not welcome because they're johnny-come-latelys or somesuch. That REALLY pisses me off. You know, because we ALL saw that coming.

I try to be the bigger person about it all, but really. A petition? An INTERNET petition? Bitches, please. 8-| Some of the stuff people put on that thing is seriously insulting. I hope JKR never sees it, because she could pull the plug on everything like *snap*. The VAST majority of the H/Hr fandom has never assumed that H/Hr would be canon, ever. Anyone who thought so WAS delusional, really. And, it's not like they didn't know that TLC was a OBHWF-only website, either.

I could go on and on, as you well know. Either people accept canon or they find a new fandom. Geesh.

*hugs* No problem, I thought the sorting hat's lyrics were very fitting for what's been happening lately. Interhouse cooperation, indeed. :)

Actually, I thought you were pointing your fingers in the other direction. O_O

I don't have a lot of time to gloat directly at the H/Hr shippers, but I have to tell you being called an illiterate fucker wasn't a lot of fun, nor was the lovely icon that said to kill an H/G shipper. So, yeah, I'm gonna gloat. I've seen some H/Hr shippers that are being reasonable, but they seem far and few between - Certainly I'm not seeing many on any of the LJ comms I've been picking through. Of course I am not reading fanfic anymore, so that might be my problem.

I'm also laughing at all the larger sites that ignored and laughed at the ship and stated that it would never be a part of canon. Remember the horrible essay at the Lexicon and how hard people had to fight to get that awful thing taken down? Yeah, some gloating and laughing needs to go in that direction.

That's the sort of thing I'm thinking about. Anyway, the nastiness in the fandom isn't anything new. It happens everywhere.

The newbie posts on [livejournal.com profile] harry_and_ginny are amazing. They are all being welcomed heartily. It comes from being in a ship that was pretty much ignored, I suppose. People just kept dismissing it with the wave of a hand. I guess in hindsight it was kind of nice.

The R/L shippers who are pushing people away are going to regret it. They will lose in the long run because eventually they will miss out on the talented people they push away to make their own communities.

I think JKR has seen the nastiness that goes on. She said as much in the interview. I'm sure that she has the foresight to know that this too shall pass. Unless the H/Hr shippers take out an ad in the NY Times. That would be hard to ignore. Morons.
