Chapter 2:  Best chapter of the entire series to date.  Snape, Narcissa, Bellatrix, and an Unbreakable Vow.  Now, that is angst to the extreme.

I was happy to note that Molly has finally come to realize that Fred and George aren't the black sheep of the family and Percy is going to be a right git from now on.  She certainly redeemed herself.

JKR is a sadist - I know she must be cackling with glee at all the R/Hr and H/Hr shippers tearing their hair out right about now.  *hee*

The H/D shippers are probably creaming their knickers and writing hot boyslash even as I type this.  :P

Ginny is finally in character.  So is Hermione - I love her cruel streak (when it's not being directed at Ron or Harry).

Did anyone think of the parallels between Eliza Bennett and Lady Catherine De Bourgh's meeting in Pride and Prejudice and Harry and Scrimgeour's meetups?  I can certainly appreciate Harry's cheek, although it seemed to happen so abruptly, since the book picks up very shortly after OotP, and CAPSLOCK!Harry seems to be nowhere in sight.

The entire situation with Snape took me completely by surprise - I have to say I loved it when he called Harry a liar and a cheat - Harry deserved that.  Snape the DADA teacher, the Half-Blood Prince, and the killer of Dumbledore.  I believe there was some sort of agreement between Snape and Dumbledore, and that Dumbledore was calling on Snape to fulfill that agreement.  Or, Dumbledore knew what had to be done, and was imploring Snape to do it.  We just got to see Harry's biased view of it.  I still want to know the rest of Snape's story, and where Draco is - I can only imagine all this plotting was the toughest thing Draco has ever attempted.  I'll take partial redemption!

I was not impressed with Remus/Tonks, but Harry is no doubt oblivious to these things.

[livejournal.com profile] redblaze was wondering if the kids would end up back in school in Book 7.  I think Harry will end up at 12 Grimmauld Place - I think that's where the necklace with Voldemort's horcrux is.  R.A.B. - Regulus Black.  I'm now more convinced than ever that Harry may need to die to end this series.

I'm tired, I'm overwhelmed, but man, am I happy.

You're messing with my denial here, woman.

I think the thing that will ultimately save Draco is that he has the capacity to love. It's apparent his mother loves him and he loves his mother because the lengths they are willing to go to save one another. That Draco's redeeming quality.

I think there's a measure of love from Snape as well, whether it originates with Narcissa or Lucius or Snape's desire to protect Draco. And the love of Dumbledore, too.

Of course, I'm hoping that Draco finds his feet and is able to lead something of a normal life once Voldemort is gone. Avoiding the family legacy would be redemption enough.

Draco puts on airs, talks the loudest, bullies the hardest. Why? I think to hide his soft underbelly. I think he did ultimately like Dumbledore despite the things he said in the past. He had a role to play and he played it very well, but in his heart he was none of things Voldemort wanted out of him. *pats Draco*

YES!!! I couldn't think of a specific Austen character, but Lady Catherine totally fits the bill. Thanks!

I'm just totally drained right now. Even hard-pressed to come up with anything wrong with the book. ;P

Yes! I agree - Chapter 2 was great. I felt like I was reading fanfic tho for a sec :)

All the Shipping stuff... man, too much... silly teens...

Loved Ginny. Loved Hermy. Ginny, so funny... and man, when she was biting into Ron she was wicked horrible...

Absence of CAPSLOCK Harry, I attribute this (as I've maintained before after reading OotP) that his emotions were so visible and so explosive because of his link with Voldie's emotions. Voldie cuts that link at the end of OotP and Harry has a lot better handle on himself in this book.

I currently in agreement about DD knowing or forseeing that Snape had to do it, or told him to, or some sort of agreement. He knew about the unbreakable vow... he knew Draco was trying to kill him... But it's so easy to see Snape on the side of bad now, and doing what he needs to to survive. And of course now we know why Voldie and Snape are so thick... both half bloods who hate their muggle pappys.

Still hope for Draco? Will Snape further sacrfice for him?

Tonks/Remus - still made me go, awe! yay! happiness for remus - thank god, he could use some.

Missed you down in Wilmington - it was a blast!

how funny, i thought i was the only person who thought the similarities between that Harry/Scrimgeour scene and the Lizzie/C. DeBourgh scene were eerie. glad i'm not the only one:)

Totally agree with you, mostly. Especially the Snape/Dumbledore agreement.

We should get together and talk sometime, I think we would agree on a lot.

R.A.B. is quite obviously Regulus, I knew that from the MOMENT I saw the R and the B. I really wanted to scream at Harry to just figure it out. let's see, who was on a once-friendly basis with Voldemort and is dead and has the initials R.B.? NOT THAT HARD HARRY.

I'm sure it's for a reason, though :)
