I thought these were based off the Bourne novels, although modernized and probably changed in other ways. I think there are at least three novels in the series. Would this be the third one?

Yes, they're based off the Bourne novels, in a shares-a-title-with way. The stories are really nothing alike from book to movie, but I think they did an awesome job updating it and making it work really well within the scope of the series.

When TBS came out, Matt Damon said that he'd not been approached to finish out the trilogy, and that he didn't think a third film would be made.

Glad to see that he was wrong! :)

Holy shit YEAH!!! I had no idea they were even thinking about doing a third! Ah, jeebus.. more yummy Matt Damon?! More, ahem, wetness-inducing action moves (the first real fight scene in "Supremacy" - at the Italian embassy! *faints*)!! Thanks for sharing!!
