Disclaimer: This is a woe-is-me post. Read at your own discretion.
But first, a fic rec! It's Remus/Hermione, by
casirafics. It's R rated, and I am *still* a little weepy over it. Certainly one of the best shorts I've ever read.
In the Turning
Yesterday my stomach started hurting. Like, really hurting. Like I-can't-stand-up-because-of-the-pain hurting. I haven't been able to hold solid food down and my guts are swollen and you can feel them against my abdominal wall. :-&
I went to the surgeon's office today and was sent to X-ray. That didn't show much except there is an air bubble in my stomach and I needed to have some magnesium citrate. The doctor wanted to admit me right away for an upper GI scan.
There is no fucking way I'm going into the hospital 9 days before my wedding. Uh-uh. We agreed to outpatient scan for today and they should know what is going on by Thursday (earlier if it's something more serious).
What's more serious, you ask? Two possibilities: 1) the portion of my small intestine that they bypassed (I had a loop bypass as opposed to a RnY) is not draining properly; 2) that the stoma - the opening they made to rejoin my stomach and intestines is beginning to close off due to ulceration/scar tissue. #1 is dealable on all fronts. #2 is the fucking scary part, since they may have to re-operate. :-S
I'm hoping it's something I can live with until the wedding is over. I can't go in for surgery now, for the love of Pete, unless I'm going to *die* without it. And if this was life-threatening, I'd have been long dead.
*clutches bottle of Percoset*
Also, in the interest of being totally manic in my panic (rhymes!), I have a couple of new icons for the election. They're nice and vanilla, but anti-antiChrist, of course. No, I'm not voting for Nader, why do you ask?
Ahahahahaha, I need to take a pain pill and try to sleep. Yes.

Date: 2004-10-26 11:12 pm (UTC)BTW, just the mention of magnesium citrate makes me tense up... the day before I had the alien removed, I had to drink an entire bottle. (You have to clean out your colon so that if they have to cut into it there is less risk of infection). Joy.

There. Now you don't have to. Take the pain pill and remember that weddings = stress and stress always = pain of some sort. Gah.
I will have my breath held for you.
I want to read that fic. Anytime I see a fic with the opening asking Hermione to make a sacrifice with the Time Turner, I know I will be bawling within a short time. Tomorrow.
