I have been so busy and on the run that I've clean run out of steam to do much of anything aside from breathe.  But, it's been an eventful weekend.

Those of you who are introverts understand the kind of tired I'm talking about.  All that social interaction and concentration.  At this point, even reading my flist seems like too much of an energy-draining exercise.

So yeah, it was a little bit early for Halloween, but I think we HP Ohio folks wanted to get together so badly for Halloween it didn't matter.  It gave most of us an excuse to play dress up.  I did the best I could (meaning I put on a red sweater and bought a little broom and went as Katie Bell).  We had a great showing, with 8 people there ([livejournal.com profile] generalmanda, [livejournal.com profile] hastyent, and I dunno anyone else's LJ names, dang it).  I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] velvet_moon!  :D  Yummy food was had - cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties, chocolate frogs, spotted dick, and butterbeer - and we listened to Harry and the Potters.  Much fun, although I had to go home so I could get up for work the next day.  Boo.  I love that there are so many different freaks people like me around here, with all these different backgrounds.  :)

Right now, I'm trying to pick out ceremony music.  Good stuff.

My high school reunion was...I dunno, I really have mixed feelings about it all.  On one hand, it was nice to see people I hadn't seen for a while, if only to be very snarky about who's gotten fat and ugly.  On the other, it was terribly pathetic to consider the fact that our class didn't really like each other very much, and it's really awkward to talk to someone you never said three words to (or never hid your contempt of) during high school.  Only 30 or so people came out of nearly 160 people, if that tells you anything (especially considering the fact that the vast majority of people still live in the area).

I was glad I dyed my hair a little darker (strawberry blond) before I went.  Very few people recognized me.  I recognized nearly nobody.  Had many drinks to calm my snarkiness down so I could actually talk to a few people without being a rude bitch.  I was quite smiley after an hour or so, said hi to everyone, re-introduced myself.

Caught up on a bit of the local gossip.  One of my classmates ended up marrying a teacher of ours (gross!), one has Crohn's disease, one is a recovering cocaine/alcoholic, another is getting married soon and doesn't want to (that from his own mouth, when his arm candy went to the bathroom).  Some things never change.  Even though I only made it to Columbus, being down there certainly made me feel like I'd actually matured well beyond the place I grew up.

I will have pictures and specific comments up soon, mainly for [livejournal.com profile] queenkatiett and RL people who know the redneck town I grew up in.  It always confuses and upsets me when people say high school is one of the best times of your life.  High school for me was an angry, unhappy time.  Luckily for me I had other activities outside of school that kept me sane and let me know there were accepting people in this world.  I consider my adult life the happiest time of my life, because I have an unlimited amount of choices to make, and I can do whatever I want with whomever I want.  Lack of responsibility does not make me happy.  Things and situations are so easy to change when you're an adult.  You have power and control, even if you don't believe you do.

When I went it for my fitting, I had to exchange my crinoline, but instead of taking home the smaller one, I accidentally picked up the bigger one.  >.<  But the dress fit perfectly, and it's safely ensconced at my sister's house for the next two weeks.

Two weeks!  I am getting rather excited.  We might break 100 people with the last-minute invitations that are coming in.  I believe things are finally falling into place.  I added an extra thing though.  One of my bridesmaids was at a wedding last weekend, and they burned CDs for favors with "their" songs on it.  Totally cool.  So I went out and bought a CD burner and I'm going to do that too!  /nutty bride

Hugs and good vibes going to [livejournal.com profile] nsmom - I'm sorry you're so down.  :(  I wish I was in Philly to give you the grandest of hugs.

Am glad you had fun with the HP thing; I think you're brave to go to a school reunion (you couldn't pay me enough to go to one!) and yay for two weeks! I'll be thinking of you on the big day, I really will. Wish I could be there to see you. *hugs*

Heidi Harvey. She married Todd Stoll, who taught band and choir up until oh, say, 1993 or so.

(I didn't realize that he'd left *quite* abruptly and he and Heidi "had something going" even back then, according to my sister, Timmy and Buck)

Ahahahaha! I loooooved Mr. Milam. Do you know...ack...is he still alive? I know he's not teaching and he was working at the former Big Bear near Campus, but not much else. He'd had cancer in the early-mid 90s. He wrote me some great letters of recommendation during college, but I lost touch.

I always had such a crush on Mr. Barr and Mr. Cramblett. Hee.

Oh, and here are the pictures I took at my HS reunion. Dunno if you know anyone.

That's so hot. I remember Todd. And Heidi is the older sister of one of my good high school friends; strange that I knew nothing of this.

I have no idea what Mr. Milam's status is. I kind of assume that he'll never die, and I really expected to run into him up here at OSU sometime. I've also always been into Mr. Barr. Especially after he wrote the greatest eulogy in history for my mom's funeral. Whoa, liking someone for their eulogy is actually kind of weird, now that I think of it.

I think I recognise some of the people in your group photo, but I couldn't put names with faces.
