Sep. 24th, 2004 12:23 amFlippin' computer crashed again, but Honeybunch managed to bring it back from the dead (live, damn you!) Am well behind on LJ, please excuse the late comments.
And oh dear, saw this on
gaystr8alliance, must post (under cut)
Things you have to believe to be a Bush-supporting Republican today...
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Viet Nam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.
The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.
A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.
Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.
Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.
Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.
A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense.
A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.
Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.
Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery.
You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.
What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
Once again, wedding plans are progressing nicely. Have to book rehearsal dinner site, get all deposits ready. My sister and I are going shopping for decorations Saturday morning - hee! Bridal shower/bachelorette party scheduled.
I had an unexpected shower last night, given by my Assembly. So much fun! They managed to keep it a surprise, too. I never forget how lucky I am to work with such a great group of girls and adults.
One of the moms gave me some clothes, since I have nearly nothing to wear. I don't know how I'm going to get another formal that fits before I need it for initiation/40th at the end of October. I should just take my old one in to be altered, but I really can't afford that either. Bah, I need to win the lottery. *counts pennies*
For the kinda mean category: one of our biggest problem employees has turned in her resignation! She was out for most of August, and even when we were very short-handed, it was better than if she'd been there. So, one more hurdle cleared to getting competent staff on board.

I should never have volunteered to help out with the 10 year reunion coming up. As if I didn't have enough on my plate. *headdesk* Didn't they know it was a rhetorical question?! Le sigh. That's what I get for opening my damn mouth, eh?
Ooh, if you haven't seen this, take a look! It actually made me tear up a little. I love that song.
Good night, y'all.

Date: 2004-09-26 11:02 pm (UTC)I always thought it would be SO FUN to plan my wedding. Now I just want to shoot myself for ever thinking it would be anything but a big pain in the ass.
Hope you're doing okay physically (no surgery necessary with your head, right?) and mentally. <3
