quidditchgrrl: (Kitty Bad Day)

The last couple of days could have been worse.  I could live along the gulf coast.  *huggles [livejournal.com profile] andarta_w and everyone else affected by Hurricane Ivan*

But damn, I must have done something really terrible, 'cause my karma has been in the toilet.

On my day off Wednesday, I was to drive to Coshocton and meet Andy's sister to register for gifts at one of the local shops.  My stomach was acting up, so I was up late and late getting started.  The guy at the gas station wouldn't let me leave my card so I could by a Diet Pepsi and take my medicine.  Get lost in Coshocton and end up half an hour late.

Register for gifts at the cutest little pottery shop in Roscoe Village.  Get back to future SIL's house to discover a flat tire.  SIL calls her SIL, who owns a tire shop in town (oh, the connections in a small town!).  Tire is shot.  I have no money.  SIL-of-future-SIL gives me used tire for free.  Mortification is complete.  Nothing makes you feel about this big than having to mooch from your future in-laws.  *facepalm*

Almost killed twice on the way home, so I'm very thankful for the used tire.  Stupid stop-on-a-dime drivers.  Visited my brother and SIL who just had their second baby.  Am now terrified of having kids.  Do not want them.  Do.not.

Sent an email, after which the internet connection died.

I lost the postcard stamps I'd bought between the car and the house.  Ventured out to buy more and the postage machine was broken, but I didn't figure that out until I'd put $2.17 into the machine.  *vein begins to tick in forehead*  I was $0.13 short, and no one that came in had change for me (I was willing to trade my dollar bill in for the $0.13 I needed).  Left completely dejected.

Today - oh yes, there's more - I went to have my dress fitted.  My bra wasn't padded enough (I'm the only person in fandom with small breasts, oh yeah) and my crinoline wasn't full enough.  It didn't help that my dress is now three sizes too big, and the crinoline was falling off.

The seamstress told me the dress was 'unalterable'.  My face >:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  :'{((((((
The very nice sales assistant found the same dress in a smaller size that the seamstress could work with.  My face :)))))))))))))))  She did an even exchange of the crinoline and dress without the receipt.  My face :-***********

Now I have a conundrum - to keep losing weight or bite the bullet and try to maintain?  I don't want to go through any more stress with the dress.  I nearly had a nervous breakdown thinking that I'd wasted $600 on a dress I couldn't wear.  Meeble.

My niece, her husband and their new kidlet are coming sometime this weekend.  She's from the South, so they'll be here when they knock on the door as far as she's concerned.  Thought they'd be here a day, just found out they're staying three.  *headdesk*  There goes the HP party Sunday.

Future SIL wants to have a bridal shower for the folks up Coshocton way.  The only weekend day I have free in October:  the 31st.  Hope that works for her.

MY FACE:  -.-

And the above are just the highlights of the crappiness in the past two days.

But [livejournal.com profile] lissinthecity sent me an e-card, which perked me up considerably!  >:D<

Need to catch up with the flist - hope all of you are doing well, especially those of you who've been battered by bad weather.  *loffs you all*

ETA: skip=230. Bah you all are a verbose lot. :D

Guhhhhhhh. *many hugs and much sympathy*

As for the losing weight thing...well...herm. I was thinking how much could you lose in two months, then I looked down and remembered. A lot. I'd say focus on toning up and not worry about what you eat too much. Less cardio, more strength building. You might still lose inches, but you will look hot. ;)

Besides, if it's a little loose I'm sure you could do a bit of pinning in crucial areas for the ceremony, pics, and any traditional bits of the reception...then change into sexy reception outfit if your dress is too big. Don't stress over it because while your dress is important, your health is more important. Not to trivialize your worries (*remembers ex-best friend's pre-wedding anxiety...fears bridezilla*), but your wedding day will be wonderful no matter if your dress is a bit loose-fitting.

Oh, and you're not the only flat-chested gal in the fandom. Ask Thalia.

*runs*

My plan is working!

Yikes! Poor Donna! Rough few days... but try to look on the good side, you've bonded with your soon to be SIL - nothing like emergency car maintaince to pull people together and bring out the good sumaritain in folks. Your SIL's SIL probably is feeling very golden about getting to help you in an hour of need. Sometimes people really need to feel like their usefull and can save someone. You're losing weight - which is awesome! So you are healing well, and good on the road to recovery and better health. Things will work out with the dress, if it's a smaller size then if you loose a few more lbs, it should be able to be altered ok closer to the wedding. No HP party on Sunday, but you can come to the meetup on the 21st instead! Bridal shower on Halloween - think of all the great day-of-the-dead decorations you can get! Little skull brides and all! How great!

Thanks...still waiting to hear from my sisters. One evacuated with her entire family and the other boarded up her house with her entire family in it. I know they are "all right" or I would have heard otherwise by now. The phone lines and cell towers along the Mississippi Gulf Coast are down...so I'm just waiting patiently...

Gosh, you are having a rough time as of late, eh? *hugshugs* Am glad they found a dress in your size. Honestly? I think you should try and maintain the weight you are. From what I've seen of brides-to-be, though, you're likely to lose from stress even when you're not trying. You're beautiful, Donna. You were when I saw you in June :D I'm only sorry I can't be there to see you on your special day.
