...in case anyone is interested. I'm 27; I look (depending on whether you're selling beer/lottery tickets or you're a teenager) between 18-21. You'd think this would be a great thing, but all it really is is mildly annoying, especially when you have to run back out to your car to grab your ID to buy a scratch-off or the liquor store agent thinks you have a fake ID. It can certainly take you to the Bad Place if a kid (read: under 21) doesn't take a good look at your non-verbal body language! The Bad Place, in reality, really IS bad!!

In 2001 I earned a BA in anthropology from Ohio State. I really, really want to get into the field of evidence collection and processing, but since the job market crashed 3 months before I graduated, it's been rough to even find job postings. So I took the best thing I could find that paid more than I was making at the time. I have a dull, fairly humdrum job working for a government subcontractor. It's mostly project management with some quality assurance on the side. Grad school is looking better and better all the time!

In the online world, I write Harry Potter fanfiction as well as some 'editorial trash' articles for a couple of sites. I got into HP after seeing SS with my niece and nephew. A co-worker suggested listening to the books on tape, and that was that. I found fanfiction.net around Christmas 2001, and I was online for nearly 3 days reading all of these fascinating stories. After that I found Diagon Alley and read just about every non-slash story there. Thus began my love affair with HP fanfiction, and more particularly, ff written by adults in the fandom. And I'll read anything from D/G fluff written by Davesmom (http://www.fanfiction.net/profile.php?userid=93670) to dark, sinister SS/HG by Camilla Bloom (http://www.snitchfiction.net/cgi-bin/stories/profile.cgi?login=Camilla). My fiction runs the gamut as well, although it's mainly NC-17.

Enough? I think that's all the gut spilling I'll do for today. Now off to www.quizilla.com to see what other disgusting fandom creatures I want to shag!

Nice to see you! I don't know about grad school, they couldn't drag me back to college kicking and screaming.

Ain't that the truth!

I don't really want to go to grad school. I don't think you get more out of it than you would gaining experience in the fiels. I have taken some other classes, but that whole structured course of study thing just isn't gonna do it for me! Although watching Red Dragon (except for the hokey ending) really made me consider it again.

One of my best friends is an anthropology doctoral candidate at Rice University doing field work in Greece for his thesis on the impact of the EU on gay culture. Each member state has to meet certain human rights standards, and those standards are sometimes at odds with cultural norms. I think he is probably the smartest person I know. Brilliant mind.

He's been in Greece for about a year now, and will probably be there for at least another 18 months. I miss him a lot.
