A Little Clarification is in Order...

quidditchgrrlThe employee in my last post is not the one making the civil rights/discrimination/affirmative action noises. It's our HR coordinator. I know that she's always thinking about the potential lawsuits, and frankly I can't blame her. We are located in a nearly all-white area - you know, the kind of suburb where the white kids are "blacker" than the African-American ones - and it would be the perfect kind of place to bring a lot of media attention if we were sued.
After talking with my boss, the library manager, and the public service coordinator, I think we all came to an understanding of what we needed to do to a) get this employee to meet departmental standards b) document and cover our asses and c) keep the HR coordinator happy. I'm still not happy with, in essence, being accused of having racial bias, as I am nothing if not fair.
And I think I can hire one of my girls to work for me at the library! Yay! *giddy* More money, good hours = happy teenager. The rest of them I'd like to beat with a stick, and I still might. Ah, the terrible eighteens. Do you remember being eighteen? No one could tell you what to do! You knew everything! Your parents and other adults knew nothing! It's amazing how my mother gets smarter as I get older.
Hm, not much else to talk about. *sigh* I don't want to go into the "NRA Blacklist" thing - way too complicated for me to deal with. It's definitely an issue I am still undecided about, even after Bowling for Columbine and The Runaway Jury and the Columbine/Oregon/Paducah/Jonesboro shootings. I do know that I was exposed to firearms at an early age, and I've been in a situation where I (potentially) needed to use one, and my brain has the adrenaline scars to prove it. *eyeroll* Let's just say I don't fall very far on either side of the issue and leave it at that. We don't need to blacklist anyone, for crissakes.
