Writer's Block: Untimely Passing

[Error: unknown template qotd]I don't have truly emotional reactions to the deaths of celebrities - it's not like I knew them, or anything.  I feel more for their families.  It's sad to think, even on the list above, how many of those folks had small children who will never know them as adults.

Political killings affect me deeply, though - because they are, by and large, assassinations of ideology.

I remember clearly when Reagan was shot...I actually watched it on the noon news with my mom, right after I'd gotten home from school (kindergarten, I'm assuming).  It was very shocking to me, that someone would want to kill the president (even if I didn't like him, I was a Carter supporter - I came out of the womb with political leanings) and that all those security men couldn't protect him.
