A Thousand Cuts
Dec. 5th, 2007 02:52 amHola, good readers in LJ-land! How are you all? I've been around, sporadically, reading posts when I can. Like the rest of the world, I've been balls-deep lately, so please forgive my lack of comments!
It just started to snow here, and they're predicting a little bit of accumulation, so we'll see. Hopefully it will hold off until Honeybunch gets new tires, so he can drive a car rather than a sled.
Updatage:
1. I've started training for a half marathon. The training is very educational - mainly teaching me that I am not a runner. I can physically accomplish the training intervals, but it is darned near impossible for me to get in the right frame of mind. Even past the 30 minute mark (which is when I tend to get into a groove), the zone is not happening. Anyone have tips?
Also, training? Is like having a second job! I've had to give up a step class, a spinning class, and probably my weekend water aerobics. Booooo. :( I like to cross-train. I'm thinking I can keep up with rock climbing, just for something to do on rest days.
2. Work is killing me slowly. I've written two disciplinary actions this week, and there are more being written by the other bosses in the department. Seems like some people have gone frelling crazy. Pair those with the impending vacancies from our new branch opening, and I'm feeling DOOM! How hard is it to a) show up to work on time, b) fill out a timesheet correctly and c) keep your goddamn mouth shut? Very hard, according to the behavior of my two folks. And the smackdown for wasting my time, it shall be harsh.
3. Something good! Fests!
smutty_claus has started posting. And I think I've guessed at least one "mystery author" already! I love me some smutty action, and the fests are le awesome. I have some time at the end of the month when I'm not scheduled for full days, so I'll be snuggling up with the hot fanfic. :D
4. Holiday stuff is going better this year. I really, truly hate holidays - the commericalism of it all, the forced joviality, the sitdownwe'refamilyandgoddamnitwer'egoingtoactlikeit aspect - it all feels so contrived. Watching the kids open presents - that's great. Having other people's bad moods taken out on you at work (if you've ever worked at an auxilliary customer service job, you probably understand that people that work at banks, libraries, etc. get shit on a lot during the holidays. They can't in good conscience bawl out the frazzled retail clerk, so they come in and give all that bitchiness to us) - that's not so wonderful.
Seriously, we've had so many cranky old people this past week, I asked if we could set up a mandatory Hormone Replacement Therapy booth in the lobby. Because mustachioed, bitchy and frizzy-haired is no way to go through life, Dolores.
Holiday cards are coming! Leave your address here if you haven't already.
5.The LJ server is robust? I can haz grafix? My DSL sucks balls right now.
6. At my other job (I'm a building manager for a local Masonic Temple), we're getting a church in on Sundays! Yay, more money for us! It's a "Christian science"-type New Thought philosophy. I LOVE their pastor, and they are "Masonic-friendly". I hope they get more members and decide to stay on past our three-month trial lease.

rachet, ( Things I am thankful for: )
8. I hope you all are having a good time leading into this month's various holidays! Don't let stress get you out of whack, and enjoy your family instead of trying to impress them or "earn" their love.
9. *smooch*
10. There is no 10.
