Aug. 6th, 2003 09:23 pmHave decided not to snark about Nimbus or the shipping debate *eyes the three page rant written Saturday afternoon at Nimbus* I wrote out a couple of drafts, but felt too bitchy and mean-spirited. I love all the ships, and if you want to bash Hermione into the ground whilst doing it, fine.
Two things - I wish Nimbus had been cheaper and smaller. I'm looking forward to the con in Canada next year as a buildup to Nimbus-2005; I'd like to have the opportunity to meet folks in discussion groups and on a more casual basis.
Work has been utterly nuts. We're out of overhead money already and trying to cram half a million dollars worth of stuff into next years' budget, get loose ends tied up, appease clients, and actually get some work done. Yes, they do ask the impossible. I have a strange position; for one boss, I'm her assistant and hold a rather high status point as far as meeting people and presenting our financial ops to the big bosses (read Joint Chiefs), while for my other boss I am nothing but a secretary. You can see how this could suck, and boy, this week has been a huge black hole.
However, I am happier when I'm busy, so it's not been so bad aside from practically living in my cube.
Took the girls to Conclave, which is the boys' state convention, for their Saturday activities. Met up with old friends there, and old enemies. It's really pathetic when you talk to someone whose entire life peaked at 19 and they just can't let go. And I couldn't join my friends to get plastered back at the hotel; I played the role of responsible advisor. Damn responsibility and being a good role model. I'm proud of myself for holding out. The girls had great fun - there are so many boys, I can't remember all of their names - which makes it worthwhile.
