He's either fucking brilliant or fucking stupid, but he's got balls, that's for damn sure.

How does he get those things in his pants, anyway?

*hee* I was about to ask, "How does he get /what/ in his pants?" and then I saved myself at the last minute *g*

I read that story too. DAMN! I can't imagine! I love how the dad is vaguely proud, and the mom is HORRIFIED.

Kids :P

Brilliant and naive for wanting to do it and making it happen. Fucking stupid for actually doing it. :))

O_o

I'm not sure if he deserves a medal for bravery or a good spanking! If my kid did that, he'd have been safer staying in Iraq!

If nothing else, the AP knows this kid after he gets out of J-school.

A guy at work wondered whether he was mentally deficient or something worse. I said he's a teenager, which is pretty much the same as mentally deficient. It took A LOT of balls, and a damn lot of idealism and self-suffiency. Maybe we shouldn't worry about the next generation so much.

The real question is how did a sixteen year old arrange international transportation? I didn't think you could buy airline tickets unless you were an adult.

That's insane!!! But at least he got to live it up in Beirut for a while, one of my all-time favorite cities in the world.

I can't believe he got away with it.

LOL! I have such mixed feelings about this story. . .The rebel side of me wants to say, right on, my brother! You live your life and try to make a difference in the world. . . I can't help but think that a 16 year old boy who is that concerned with the world and the war and the state of everything that he'd take a trip like that, is going to be SOMEBODY someday. . .He'll make a dent in the universe (if he doesn't get killed first.) Most 16 year olds are concerned about having the coolest shoes and the best ipods. . .So, yes, I was pretty impressed with this story. . .

The parent side of me is saying. . .Holy sh-- are you frecking insane. . .I would tan my son's HIDE for doing that! I can almost imagine what that child's poor mother must have felt getting a call saying, hey, mom, I'm in the middle east for a class project, but don't worry. . .LOL! That poor, poor woman, she needs a life time prescription of valium after that!

I am torn between being extremely proud of this boy and wanted to meet him just so I can smack him upside his amazing head!
