five of eight top FEMA officials had come to their jobs with virtually no experience in handling disasters. The agency's top three leaders, including Brown, had ties to Bush's 2000 presidential campaign or the White House advance operation.

Former Edmond city manager Bill Dashner recalled for Time that Brown had worked for him as an administrative assistant while attending Central State University.

"Mike used to handle a lot of details. Every now and again I'd ask him to write me a speech. He was very loyal. He was always on time. He always had on a suit and a starched white shirt," Dashner told Time.

In other words, he raises money really well and he knows how to kiss ass.

He's a political hack, not an emergency manager. Not all that different. What is different is that he didn't bother to surround himself with people who could manage emergencies. THAT was his mistake.

Bush never bothered to check on it. THAT was the bigger mistake.

Good. The problem is that his head will roll, but this will be the only one that will. The Bushies will scream and cry and say that we got our head in a basket and aren't we satisfied now?

Bush will let it happen because he has two Supremes he wants to sing his Fundie Funding tune.

Didn't take me long before I am right back on top of my analytical political shape, did it?

*bangs head on desk*

I thought we were taking a break.

*LOL* That's pretty funny.

Dude, my family knows some of the people mentioned in that article. I hadn't realized he was from OK. (Which means I'm staying the hell away from the local news tonight, since this is going to be all. over. it.)

In any case, it's about time. That stuff with not knowing about the conditions in the convention center was inexcusable.
