Wank du Jour

Yeah, well.  Not deleting/changing my interests.

Innocent until proven guilty, and all that.

This brought back memories of what we discussed in New Orleans.

As usual, I am sitting here going..."huh? what happened?"

If you're missing it:

Some idiots with (questionably) good intentions are getting folks TOS'd for certain interests.

I'm *eyerolling* big-time.

A book reading group too??

What a witch-hunt they have going on there. Joins you in the eyerolling.

I haven't had a chance to read through much of this yet, but if RPG journals are being deleted because of inappropriate or "illegal" interests, can the owners just put the interests in the bios instead?

LJ abuse team seems to have issues with the search function of the interests (i.e. people could search interests for illegal activity such as pedophilia, incest, nose picking, whatever). If the interests were in the character's bios, LJ abuse wouldn't (or shouldn't) have an issue.

It's not just RPG journals - it's [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies and [livejournal.com profile] afamilyaffair and [livejournal.com profile] lynntownsend, too.

I'm interested in how this will help "catch" people - if you're interested in illegal activity, you are likely NOT going to list them as interests in your LJ. You're going to be a little more undercover, you know?

Grah. Very frustrating for the law-abiding!

I'm so totally in shock that P_P is gone. :cries: NOT ON.

Oh, also--you and I have the same possibly-targeted interests, and I'm going to stick it out as well. I think. >.>

I know - it's been around so long. It boggles me. I wasn't a member but I'd go check it out once in a while to read.

It's ironic (to me) that I actually DID change my interests about a month ago. Not because of anything like this but because I was messing around and accidently deleted all of my old user info page. When I redid it I just made it rather vanilla out of laziness and the fact that RL friends have found my LJ than anything else. And I renewed my account - I wish I'd waited on that ...

I'm boggled ...

I've added "freedom of speech" and "consumer rights" to my interests, fwiw, which is probably very little. But the whole flap is making me rethink paying another year's subscription.

I'm not deleting/changing either. WOO HOO! Solidarity!
