And, I saw The Village tonight.
The movie was awesome, in the way M. Night Shyalaman's movies are. Very subtle - under all of that supernatural stuff there are incisive observations on human nature.
This movie dealt with secrets, lies, fear and what one will do to perpetuate their view of the world.
A lot of the people in the theatre commented on how they didn't like the movie. Those folks need a few critical-thinking courses. They had to have seen The Sixth Sense, right?! Shyalaman's stuff is not mindless drivel.
This movie didn't make me cry - we sat in the theatre for nearly five minutes after Signs - but it left us with something to think about. I mostly thought about how we create our own worldview to make it easier to cope with the pressures of everyday life. Just about everyone believes what they do because it gets them through the day without having a mental breakdown or mowing people down with an AK-47.
But aside from all of the deep thoughts, there was a lot of suspense and several bits that cracked me up. And the pretties - Adrien Brody was brilliant, Joaquin Phoenix ditto, and Brice Dallas Howard stole the entire movie.
ETA: Oh man, I'm going straight to hell. When, exactly, did Zac Hanson turn into such a w00bie? *seeks therapy*
